Alright, so my turbo is seeing too much oil pressure and blowing smoke. I've added a reducer/filter to help reduce the effects. This did not completely solve the problem. (oil housing -> turbo oil inlet)

I've got this idea of fabricating a custom stainless steel braided line that runs from the factory head feed to the turbo oil inlet.

I plan on keeping the reducer/filter in place.

What is your opinion on the matter: head or housing feed?

What turbo are you running? Did you check your return line?

T04b V-Trim.

Return line is fine. Smoke is hit or miss. Under higher oil pressure scenarios it's nearly a 100% chance to see a nice cloud in the rear view. Other than that, it's not present.

The turbo has around 1.2k miles and has not seen WOT run.

This is a journal bearing turbo.

Well, what is the thickness of your head?

If the head has been surfaced a time or three, you may not get enough oil flow.

What is the build? Are you a 6 bolt block with a 7 bolt head? ARP studs?

I cannot produce an exact number at the time. I know it was surfaced once by the machinist that pieced my build. Oil restriction is not a concern. I am actually a little high on the pressure side. (the oil being forced through the seals in the turbo and smoking)

Fully built 7 bolt 20 over. ARP mains/studs.

Pressure is one thing.... flow is another

If the trough in the head has become shallow, it will restrict flow.

So are you saying it'd be better to try and find a solution for too much pressure from the oil housing rather than re-routing back to the factory head feed? Such as another in-line on the feed on the opposite end? (inlet/reducer-----line------reducer/housing?)

If the turbo has seen too much oil pressure, you could have already blown the seals on it and no matter how much of a restrictor you use it will keep smoking. Until it is rebuilt.

Running the line from the head is the best place. I have been running my HX35 from the head on my talon (with rear balance shaft) for 3 years now at 30psi with no problems.

Feeding my wifes 20G on her talon from the head as well, (she has no balance shafts either) has been running good for quite sometime now!

Also feeding my 14B on my galant (No balance shafts) from the head for several years without a problem!

Good luck!

Filter housing, .080"-.100" restrictor.

Head may have too-little oil pressure which can cause damage that is much more expensive than seal replacement.
