Oil Concern

Hi im Deli and im a total newb.

OK i just bought a 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi Turbo for a grand the kid i bought it from obviously didnt know how to take care of it engine wise. it had no fluids! oil was just a dabb at the very end of the stick and the power steering fluid wasnt even at minimal. ok heres my question i decided to do an oil change yesterday ive done these before several times on my other car (chysler sebring) friends and families cars, the car didnt come with an owners manual so i get the oil filter off and then i take off a brass not a bolt but a cap type fitting off the bottom of the oil pan no oil comes out what im wondering it is there another place ur suppose to drain the oil? becuase i didnt see any other bolts anywhere else on the oil pan i went ahead and filled the car with oil 3.5 quarts normally cars take 4 i checked the stick it was above the maximum notch so im thinking i must of been a retard and didnt get all the old oil out where is the drainage bolt?. also how often does the radiator need to b flushed every 5 years?

The bolt should be on the rear hump of the oil pan on the drivers side of the car.


You would go about removing an oil filter with an oil filter wrench.

Id run some oil through it and changed it alittle sooner then normal just for provision.

I'm trying to figure out what was meant by "brass cap type fitting" is it aftermarket replacment piece or something cause if there was a dab at the end of the dip stick at least a quart should have come out. So maybe you removed the wrong thing? A pic would be awesome.

i figured out what happend instead of a drainage bolt it is a one way valve inplace of it u have to apply pressure to remove the oil.

Sure looks like the Fram. I suppose he didn't give you the drain attachment.

nope he never changed or refilled the oil in the 4 months he owned it. do u know where i can get the attachment?

From Fram
Goto your local Auto Parts store, if they carry Fram, they can get the fitting. Just take them the picture so they know what you're talking about.
