oil cap

has anyone had a problem with there oil cap leaking? I bought a new oil cap from auto zone and it is still leaking i checked the rubber seal on the bottom of the cap and it looks fine please help

Before i bought a billet cap with a o-ring for a seal, i used to double up the stock oil cap gaskets. Worked great, no leaks and a tight seal.

If it's the original plastic style cap, then I'd be careful about doubling up gaskets. I tried that and broke the "internals" off the cap and had to remove the valve cover to clean it all out.

Just buy a new seal they are <$2 and you only need one make sure you clean up the surface around where the new gasket will go. I had the same problem and just went out and bought a new OEM gasket and it was fixed.

Could be crankcase pressure just something you might want to look in to if new oil cap doesn't solve your problem

Go to a more respectable auto parts place, like NAPA or similar and get you a cap made for the head cover .. just not Autozone for a DSM owner.

I had major issues with the 1g OEM oil caps leaking, even with 2 OEM gaskets on there, then my buddy was kind enough to gift me a brand new OEM Evo 8 Oil cap (with only 1 OEM gasket) and since then, absolutely NO leaks. So my recommendation?

BUY AN EVO 8 OIL CAP.

Not to mention they look a LOT better than our OEM ones.

OR, check out STM, they have that Evo 8 style oil cap but you can swap the stickers on them with whatever oil you are running, which I personally think is a very VERY nice touch.
