Just as the title says I am burning up a quart every week pretty much. It seems to be boost related cause my car smokes like a mother under boost. I tried doing a compression check I get 157-160 across the board pretty normal 165 is stock. So I tried a boost leak test. I got major leaks on the valve cover and dipstick. Solved that by doing the catch can mod. The can puffs white smoke when reving and sometimes at idle. I made a thread on it and one person said it was normal. I checked the turbo for shaft play there is nearly none like when I got it new last year. I'm really at a loss as to what to check/fix next.

i was just reading through another thread and there was a little controversey on how long to crank for doing a compression test. I crank my car for ten seconds and it sounded like it was too long from the what I read...how long do you people crank it for the test? I'm wondering now if the only reason I've been getting good compression numbers is because I've been cheating so to speak.

I had a similar problem on my car to I checked everything to. People told me the smoke was either coming from blown turbo seals, or Piston rings. Turned out to be the piston rings. Hope that helps you some.
