As some of you may know, I've been getting some pretty good numbers from the Evo3 16G. The final numbers were 430hp, 417tq on the English Racing dyno.
Yesterday, the 16G gave up the ghost. It locked up on me. Today, Aaron was checking it out, he broke the shaft nut loose with his fingers! WTF?? The compressor was spinning freely from the shaft at this point. We didnt dig any deeper into it. There were about 1300 miles on it. I knew it wasnt going to last long, but 1300 miles, seriously?
I remember being at frostone's place and he fought like mad with that same nut... too bad Aaron wasnt around.
So... the Evo3 16G is going back to Forced Performance. I plan on selling the one I get in return to a buddy, and hopefully this week I can get the DSM76 ordered up with all the goodies. FP's DSM76 is their 3052 with the HTA wheel. Theyre rated to flow 57lbs/min and spool a little better than the 3052.
It'll be nice to drive around with the pissed off 16G power on pump gas and not have to plan special Sunday outings for trips to the E85 pump... 70 miles round trip. Besides, the motor will like it a lot more, too; no more crazy spikes.
I cant wait
