Hello all,

I've been a member for a little while before posting my first question. Mainly because I've been researching my butt off  I love this forum :thumb:

Ok my question is about rewiring your stock 1g fuel pump. What amount of horepower will it support rewired? I know I can't go but so high with the stock injectors. i know about this page . I've researched and found out some stuff but I have gotten no definitive answer. (If there is no definitive answer then that in itself is definitive :D ) I plan on running at 16 psi on the stock injectors with a SMALL 16G and a front mount. All my mods are listed. I'd like to see 250 horsepower to the wheels. I have been under the impression that the stock fuel system and stock 14B is good for 300 CRANK horsepower. Is this correct? If that is the case, then I can reach my goal without a new pump; but do I have to rewire? . . . A SMALL 16G flows a bit more than a 14B ... but 300 crank horsepower is 300 crank horsepower 16G or 14B or even Holset HY35 for that matter. ? ? ? ? ?

Well I think with the 255lph pump that is good for up to 500hp on the stock fuel lines...unsure about a rewired pump why not just go with a 255?

well. thought about it. i want to get to 250 horsepower now. yes i'll go to higher numbers later when I get my gm maft setup and proper-sized injectors :) . And i know that the bigger pump will give me what i need. I'll get the best pump i can get that will support as much as i can throw at it when i do buy a pump. but why spend the money for a pump right now if rewiring it will allow me to reach the goal of 250 horsepower?

Because then you would be ready for heavy mods if you ever decided on a 50/60 trim. Might as well spend the money and do it once then have to do it again. Fuel Pumps/rewiring is not a fun job what so ever I am NOT doing it again if I don't have to. I think if you have an AFPR/SAFC/DSMlink you could control the flow to restrict/increase so you get what you need? Do whatever you would like just my two cents

I understand. I was looking at the install photos for the fuel pump rewire on vfaq and yea, it don't look easy... but if I have access to a car lift :thumb: they really help. And, I don't have to $100 for a new pump now but will when I get the GM MAFT setup and injectors. You see, I don't plan on getting these parts until next spring. I've aready spent all the money i can on the FMIC. The 255 is definately the way I'll go when I can afford it. But i wish i could know what the stock rewired fuel pump could take.

Actually, if you look through the classifieds here, dsmtrader, and even eBay you can get them as cheap as $70-100 new and around $50-80 used. I know for a fact my friend is selling his 260lph Supra TT fuel pump for $70 and it's in excellent condition so the deals ARE out there.

true i have a Walbro 255 high pressure in the trunk of my 85 t-bird ready to go in THAT car. I could just put it in my eclipse. BUT, i'll also need to by the afpr to control the "overflow" of the pump and i don't have ANY more money except the 20 bucks for the materials in a rewire. I hope the deals remain out there when i have the money. that's for sure :thumb:

I have a 255lph pump with no AFPR/SAFC. Yea I am running rich but with the detergents and stuff in the 93 octane gas it's going to take YEARS for build up or for something bad to happen. I am trying to save up for DSMlink but who knows.

stock pump can handle 16-17psi
if you're going to get the 255hp (hi-pres) pump then you must get a new fpr, i don't think the 255lp (lo-pres) requires one
or, you could just upgrade to a 3000gt pump for quite cheap. you can find them on 3s sites, ebay, etc. for very little, new or used. it will support more power than you want to make (400+/-) and you won't need a new fpr- this is what i have right now

I made 380whp on a rewired 190 pump. The 190 is a good option for you, it can support decent power and does not require an AFPR!
