oh my god i'm hatin the car

hey guys car is kickin my ass... my alternator was dying, but before i installed new one i installed a new intake dejon tool and then the car was rough at idle and would randomly stall in neutral and would hesitate when i was drivin on vacuum. then car just died on me and would not fire up but once u put cables to it it ran like a champ, no stutter, no hesitation no nothing, just smooth.
today i went to install a new alt, got it on, but in the process i forgot to disconnect the battery and tapped the alt to the o2 sensor. the alt fuse blew so i replaced that and now the car is a bit rough, and wants to die occasionally and does... i have no driven it yet just started it up. if i gun it with WOT the belt squeaks like crazy!!!! but not if i slowly bring the rpms up. does anyone have any ideas?
 
If the belt is squeaking then it is probably not tight enough or you have a bad belt. How did you blow the alt. fuse by touching the alt. to the 02 sensor. That seems kind of difficult to do. Unless you still had all of the wires hooked up to the alternator when ytou pulled it out, and even then you should have the battery disconnected before you do any elctrical work on your car. Check out the belt and go from there.
 
Also, it might be too late but you are supposed to have a fully charged battery when you put a new alternator in. Otherwise, it will create a large load on the alternator when it tries to charge your battery up and you may shorten the life on your alternator.
 
i forgot to take off the battery terminals cause i was tryin to get the alt out durin m y lunch break, i put a ratchet to the nut that holds the wire onto the alt and when i went to turn the ratchet the ratchet hit the o2 and i got some sparks. i will check on the belt cuase it is the same belt and it was fine on the other alt, i will take it off and put it back on and see what happens... and about the full battery, i know it will shorten the life but as of right now it should still be able to start the car and sustain it no? anymore ideas anyone?
