So after a few months and alot of headaches I finally replaced the headgasket. Everything seemed to go back together okay, and i was rather confident that things were going to be work.

So the time came to start it. After cranking for about 5 min. it finally turned over. Couple more times and it was running.

Problems began to arise. I was told that when i was starting the car i had quite a bit of gas leaking out of the fuel rail-(driver side, small outlet) gas continued to come out of that little outlet. What does this mean??

no for the real problem...i have almost no throttle response. It almost feels like a carb'd motor...when i pump the gas pedal it takes a few seconds to get gas it seems, and the throttle is hard to control.

It might be worth noteing that i had my exhaust running right through my turbo...not sure if this has anything to do with it. is there another 02 sensor anywhere farther down the exhaust?

i also dropped an injector through out the rebuild process...it cracked the little black plastic piece that went into the manifold side...i used a type of sealent to try and seal it back up. this seems like a likely problem also.

is an electrical connection or something of the sort also possible?

im pretty sure that my timing was spot on..i think anyway.

thanks alot you guys. i appreciate it

There is no outlet on your fuel rail, there are however places for hoses to connect. You forgot to hook something up there.

The piece that you cracked is called a pintle cap. It really isn't a very big deal as long as the injector sits right and seals but if you managed to get sealant coming down towards the pintle to cover the ports on the injector that could be a problem. I also wouldn't use an everyday sealant like rtv on fuel components because gasoline can break the stuff down and cause issues. Unfortunately new pintle caps aren't easy to come by and you have to get them from specialty places.

Try these for a pintle cap if yours isn't sealing well. Take it out and check to make sure the sealant isn't impeding fuel flow.

thanks for the response.

i really dont know for sure where that outlet goes to....or what hoes goes to it.

it looks like my boost gauge was tapped into it...but gas shouldnt be going to my boost gauge lines....correct?

If you have Fuel coming out of a rubber hose that you had your boost guage tapped into..
That would be the Fuel pressure regulator vacume source, and the hose coming off it runs to a solinoid that controls how mutch vacume the regulator see's. This is whats called a rising rate regulator.. as boost is applied to the system, the regulator ramps up the fuel pressure.

Now if there is fuel coming out of that small rubber hose. Thats tells you the Diaphram inside the FPR is leaking... Does this car have a aftermarket or highflow fuel pump?

Otherwise NO fuel will come out of that rail unless its leaking where the Top of your injectors slides in it.. and if thats the case.. A simple 10cent oring will fix it..

As for the sluggish response to throttle input.. Check and recheck for boost leaks.. This should have been done before you even fired up the engine for the 1st time...
Did you install new spark plugs? If not are your old ones extremly black and possibly fouled?

Im shure you probly already have done so, But recheck Everything and start with the basics and work your way up the problem chain.

If its going into the vaccum hose, in the above picture most likely you have a bad regulator, and its leaking into the vaccum source.

If there is fuel coming out of the small port on the FPR, then you may have a ruptured diaphragm( like DougR said). If this is true, it may also have something to do with you car running rough. The injectors will not be delivering enough fuel. DO NOT RUN THE CAR UNTIL THIS IS FIXED.

You said:

"my exhaust running right through my turbo...not sure if this has anything to do with it. is there another 02 sensor anywhere farther down the exhaust?"

Did you have the O2 sensor on the O2 housing (right after the turbo) hooked up?

as far as the drawing of the fuel rail, yes that is definitly the hose where fuel is coming out. What makes me curious though, is that everything worked perfrct before i lost my headgasket. How could a fuel pressure regulator go bad just sitting there?

the severity of the condition is hard to really descibe...but the car isnt drivable. It takes about 5 min. to start the car(it acts like its not getting gas) , then when it does you really have no control over the throttle. you can put the pedal to the floor and have no response for about 5 seconds then the car will rev up...let off the gas all the way and it takes just about as long to stop revving. it runs really rough and almost spontanious. is there any kind of electrical or other type of connection i happend to miss that could vause this...or do yall think its all just in my fuel rail?

Get that FPR replaced, make sure the front o2 is connected, and try starting it again.
