I'm wanting to buy a set of seventeen inch enkei dm5's to put on my 92 tsi awd. They are discontinued and the only websites I've been able to find still selling them are smaller sites that don't let me know what will fit my vehicle. I have two choices of lug size and I'm confused as to which one, if either, will fit. The lug sizes are listed as 5-100/114-38am and 5-112/114-38sm. I don't know what the am and sm mean so if anybody could let me know, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

5x114.3mm also called 5x4.5 is the bolt pattern. What is the width of the wheels? Find that out and get back to us, or type it in the search on the usual dsm forums.. Will likely be around ~40.

The size 17x7 which I think I've seen other people say they are running on their dsm's. The thing that is confusing me is the -38sm and the -38am. I can't seem to find mention of that on any other tire site or any other threads. Here is the link to the rim, thanks.

The sm and am when used in that situation are usually referring to wheel finishes. The sm stands for silver machined and the am for anthracite machined. The machined part is referring to the lip or some ather part of the wheel that has a machined accent. Hope this helps.
