I'm going to buy a set of wheels & tires for my 1997 eclipse spyder very soon, but before I do I would like to know what they will look like.. Please post pics if you have 19x8 w/+40 offset on your 2g eclipse. I like how it looks when the rim is flush to the fender so please tell me if you've added spacers to yours, Tell me what size tires you have, and any other info I'll need etc. The 19'' rims I'm set on getting are only available with 8'' or 9.5'' width. The offset available is +20 +32 +40, So I think 19x8 +40 offset would be ideal for the 2g eclipse? Will I clear the control arms & rear knuckles? Will they rub? Do they rub with the tires you use? Will I need to roll the fenders? ... I'm not interested in people trying to convince me to go with a 16'', 17'', or 18'' rims instead. So please don't comment because 19'' is what it's gonna be! I know it will be a rougher ride yada yada yada. I'm not a Racer... Ps my Car is at stock height, Though I plan to lower it about 1'' someday.
Thanks!

19x8.5 front 235/35/19, and 19 x 10.5 rear 265/30/19 Volk GT-7

+32, +36 offsets.
5 mm spacers front, and 10 mm spacers rear ( to clear the 95-96 awd Knuckles), 97 up have more clearance.

Lowered 1.5"

Yes you will have to roll the fronts, and depending on the rear Roll, with a slight pull

I will be switching up to an AirRex air set up in 2013.

alright thanks good to know... now I've gotta find a reputable place around town to roll my rear fenders. I'm gonna try it myself with a baseball bat.

I meant to say I'm "NOT" gonna roll the fenders with a baseball bat

it would still be cool to see pics of 2g cars w/ 19x8 +40 offset... so please post here

I have the same style of rims on my spyder but they are 19x8.5 Privat Netz with a +30 offset. No fender rolling,no rubbing and clears everything with no issues. Tire size is 215 35r19, i get told my tires are too narrow but these toyo proxes for some reason fit like 225 so they dont look stretched. Im on my cel so i cant post any pics but you can look in my profile and see what they look like.

nice setup SPYDERGSTTUNER! love the stance and ride height... this is getting confusing now.. some people need to roll fenders & some have no issues with rubbing. I think I'll just order the wheels with 215/35/ZR19 tires & hope I won't need to roll the fenders. As I mentioned before I'm getting 19x8 +40 offset. if they tuck under the fender I'll get spacers to try to achieve a more aggressive stance, but without poke.. want it to look just like your setup SPYDERGSTTUNER ! how many inches is your car lowered btw?

hmmmm.. so you had to roll your fenders. Perhaps because of the tire size? what's the offset of the wheels?

The thing is if you want to basically "stretch" a tire to fit the rims, then yeah they'll fit, if you want the correct tire for the size of the rim IE: 265/30/19 on a 10.5" rim then the answer is yes, you will have to roll fenders and or pull.

Skinny tires on a wide rim just look Odd, and are somewhat dangerous. not to mention leads to tons of curb rash

Tell me about it. (245s on a 10", currently :()

+40 is too high an offset for 9" on an Eclipse. Check the wheel/tire calculators, but suspension clearance will be as big of a problem as fender-side clearance.

ok.. I don't mind a little stretch.. a 215/35ZR19 might be too much stretch though.. maybe a 225/35ZR19 would be the happy medium I'm looking for, just enough stretch for clearance. the ride height is stock right now. will be getting tein super street w/p coilovers soon.

thanks for all the helpful advise guys... my car is currently sitting in my backyard uninsured with 4 bald tires, 2 of them are flat... my priority is to get it back on the road asap so rims/tires first before suspension, unfortunately that's the order it's gotta be. I'm gonna go with the 225/35ZR19 on the 19x8 +40 offset. then get the coilovers. will check around town for shops that roll fenders, then get that done if need be.

Check Craig's list, there are usually guys that will come and roll them at your house for a small fee. I was quoted 40 bucks for a front fender, and 60 for the rears, i ended up opting to buy my own fender roller.

will do thanks.... how did that work out for you? prepped it with a heat gun first? did it affect your paint at all?

Glad you liked her LOL she's spoiled and goes thru many wheel changes often, this is my fourth set of rims this year and thinking of changing them out for some gold xxr's:)It shouldn't be too hard to get the stance if you get coil overs, I have the Tein coil overs and is lowered about 2" all the way around. Toyo proxes 4's have a big rim guard so you get the 225 size look and you dont have to worry about curb rash.

SPYDERGSTTUNER. yeah I really like the look of your wheels & stance. now I'm stumped between which offset to get.. +40 or +32..

I would go with the +32 just for the fact that mine are +30 on an 8.5 wide wheel and I'm not having any issues that a lot of people have with rubbing, rolling fenders, spacers, or clearance problems. They sit flush with the fenders which is what I wanted and that offset with the wheel with match perfect

yeah it's a little late now though... I already ordered the rims w/ +40 offset 2 days ago... I guess if they tuck I could always get some spacers to make them flush to the fenders

The whole point of buying proper offsets is to not need the spacer band-aid. You bought wheels "2 days" ago, but the post about the offset (#20) is less than 24hrs from the most recent?

Wha?

yes I ordered them before I posted that comment, but the wheels have yet to be paid for.. they're in freight right now, so they're still property of discount tire until they've been mounted/fully paid for... I understand it's better to get proper offset to start rather than getting spacers, and for the price of good spacers I'm better off canceling the original order (losing the $100 I put down)... so it's still not too late technically. I was hoping I could just go to discount tire once the +40 offsets arrive, see what they look like on one side of the car, then build up washers 8mm thick to place over the studs on the other side of the car.. that would give me an actual visual reference to compare the +40 offset with the +32 offset etc.. from there I could easily decide which ones to get, buy the +40 set on the spot if I liked them or re-pay the $100 freight to order a new +32 set.. but after talking to them today I was told "once they are mounted they're mine". so scrap that idea. I'm just still a little in the dark with this because I've seen guys on this site with 19x8.5 with +45 no spacers that kinda poke, others with 19x8.5 +30 that are perfectly flush.. some guys rub, some don't, some need to roll fenders & others don't.. it doesn't always add up to me.

CONCLUSION.. I got the rims (19x8 with a +45 offset). I would say the ideal flush to the fender look without poke would be to run a 19x8 w/+35 offset or a 19x8.5 w/+40 offset. I'm happy with my setup though because the center of the wheel face on these particular rims poke out a slight bit past the 19'' diameter lip.. so that makes the wheel look flush.. I'll attach pics soon ( from many angles ).
.... as for the tires I went with a 215/35zr19.. the next thing I'm gonna do is get coilovers.

I just read over my last post.. ERROR!! the wheels I got are actually 19x8 with a +40 offset. (NOT +45) etc.
