Sorry if this is in the wrong spot I didn't see any special place for electrical issues . When at idle my oem charge needle is around 1/4 ,when I rev it it goes up slightly ( normal) . When I go down the road and start to build rpms (after about 3000 ) the needle starts to rise and goes up 3/4 to 7/8 with my rpms . Can I run it like this or is this bad ? any ideas ? maybe voltage reg? Is that part of the alternator ? thanks for the help.

agreed, the 96 doesnt have a volt gague,, the gauge to the bottom left is your boost gague, once you hit full spool, at 3k rpms, then it should jump up significantly, thats a healthy turbo which is good, if you are concerned with the boost, a better way to observe it would be with an aftermarket boost gague. A stock 96 gsx/gst should run anywhere between 10-13 psi depending on a lot of thigns but thats the general range for our cars stock

That def sounds like a boost gauge hes talking about. Even the 1G's have a simlar setup. The boost guage stock is on the tach, but its only good for about 14psi. After that you need to get an aftermarket guage.

Thats what I was thinkin and the stock boost gauge is worthless it doesnt even read boost its just the ecus guess based on the mas readings and tps readings isnt it? someone please correct me if im wrong.

Now I feel like an idiot . You mean thats a boost gauge ? I thought it was volts . I gotta go look ....Yup the + and - had me thinking it was volts . The little turbo should have been my first clue . Ok thanks for pointing out the obvious . The good news is I don't have any problems then .Thanks again

I have an aftermarket boost gauge up in the gauge pod so I never used this to watch boost .I agree I deserve to go in the stupid questions archive .

I'm pretty sure that it is actually reading boost, albeit very poorly beacuse it is inacurrate as hell. The stock guage and my Autometer are not far apart in their readings, however my stock guage reads a little bit of boost when my Autometer reads it is at 0.
