Odometer doesn't work but speedo does.

alright guys I searched and haven't found anything on this. I have a99 gs and my speedo and tach work fine. The odometer and cruise control arent working. What could This be?
Could it be a broken cluster?
Could it be the speed sensor? I didn't think so because the speedo is working accuretly. The person I bought the car from also didn't seem like the honest of people. So do you guys think that the cluster was just tampered with so the odometer doesn't work but everything else does? Any help would be appeciated.

I would start with checking out you instrument cluster. Sounds like it may be the malfunction. And cruise control should not be related to your odometer problem. for that I would start by checking the cables for cruise control and make sure they are working properly.

Being that your speedometer is working properly, I can't jump to saying that it is your speed is the culprit. I would check the cluster as said above, it seems to be not working correctly. Cruise control can't work properly without a working speed sensor, but according to your information it is working.

worst case scenario you just buy a new cluster hopefully that'd fix it.

i would also chase the vehicle speed sensor wiring. its working between vss and speedo but not vss and odo, the harness branches off somewhere and that could be your trouble area. i dont have schematics in front of me so i cant be more precise but a good visual inspection goes a long way.

Yeah I'm going to change the cluster since I planned on getting another one and doing the led fit to it. Hopefully that fixes it
