I was cruising around this past weekend and noticed somthing odd as I made a left hand turn. While turning left and accelerating lightly, I noticed a check engine light had come on and my radio had turned off. After maybe 2 seconds the CEL turned off and the radio had powered back up.

I was driving to work this morning and made a left turn and it felt as if I had lost a cylinder and I noticed the check enigne light came on once again and the radio had turned off, After another 2-3 seconds the CEL went out and the radio powered back up

On both occasions it seemed the car drove normally afterwards with no problems. Im not sure where to start here... Later today I plan on logging the car and making alot of left turns and see what I can come up with, but does anyone have any ideas of what this could be?

Check for a DTC. Even though the CEL does not stay on there may still be a code.

Make sure the battery is securely tied down and you have a cover over the positive terminal.

How does the clutch feel? Any weird issues or problems with it sticking in down position?

Not sure about the CEL and radio but if you are loosing power when accelerating to the left, it is a sure sign of crank walk. This is because it disperses the energy from the crank to one side of the motor and causes the crank to move as far one way as it can go. This in turn makes it feel as if you have lost a lot of power. Check into it and keep us posted.

The clutch feels good, Its a 6 bolt and its still pretty fresh so I dont think its a thrust bearing/crankwalk problem. I will check the battery and DTC's when I get out of work and go from there. Thanks for the input guys! I'll post back soon

I just checked the battery connections and ground connections on the firewall. It seems as is the positive connections on the battery have wore a small hole in thier respective covers, I then looked the the hood and noticed the heatsheild had a worn hole in it as well. It looks like the positive leads on the battery were arcing out on the hood.... The battery is lacking a tie-down at the moment...

Im sure this was the problem but I wont title "Resolved" untill I drive the car around a bit later to make sure.

Yup. Thought that was it. Most of the time it is to a strut bar though because that puts metal that much closer to the terminals. By the way, anyone happen to know the bolt size of a factory tie-down? When I did my Optima swap, mine vanished somehow.

And yes, probably isn't resolved yet. You have found the problem. But explaining why it is happening on yours has not been done. As you said, small holes developed on the covers. This meaning that it was arching anyway and just happened to melt through the covers and contact the hood. Since this is affecting your stereo, do you have after market audio components put in the car? Because an improper ground in that could reak havoc on an electrical system.
