obx tubular manifold

I can vouch first hand that this manifold is underated and it does not take much to make this thing fit at all. Here are some less generic pictures for anone who cares.

To give an idea how long it is. STandard computer paper.

the flange for the turbo is on an angle not straight down that'show it avoids hitting the starter.

The runners and collector look half descent considering. No huge #### ups ike the Intake manifold.

^^still not mounted on a car. Maybe once there are pics of it fitting and lasting for more than a couple months others will be interested

I don't even know if they still make these I had a hard time finding one. Your right about longevity that is an issue but we will find out soon enough because I'm def gonna be pushing it. Symtech has a manifold coming out soon which looks pretty bad ass kinda like a t3 version of the REV Hard manifold but better looking. Thing is I like tubular's better :sosad:

You can find them, but they're listed for a Neon... I def would like to see pics of it mounted with the turbo and all.

I'm ordering my turbo on weds but it will be a little while before I have install pics I still need some important parts. I can post install pics of the manifold though. I have to bust out the grinder but after seeing where to grind from the guy I bought it from it's easy.

My vented hood was letting water get on my header I have on there just as a place saver now and i already rusted from sitting for a little. Granted when you run the car it wouldn't be as bad but I didn't want this bad boy rusting so I did a little modifying :D

Ok all the bs can go out the window now. While I have yet to put the turbo on you can see from the pics I coudl dam near put a gt42r in there(sarcaism). I don't even think I owuld have needed to mod the thermostat housing but I just got the oneoff the guy that I bought the manifold off of. Pretty much he took the eye lid that the bolt goes into down a little and took a little off the top of the bolt head. Anyway like you can see fits perfect. Keep in mind I have a visteon radiator with slim fan but I think it would fit without it but for $200 this things is a really god investment for peace of mind and lower temps. ANyway nuff talk heres the money shots.

I don't know about it being so close to the thermostat housing and the upper coolant tube. Heat soak is nothing good for coolant, ya know?

But by all means let us know how it turns out and performs..

Any more pics of the thermostat housing so we can see what exactly was done to it?

Sure ill take some more but to be honest they must have modified the manifolds or I got lucky or something cause he didn't take much off and it fits with plent a dscent amount of room. By the looks of it the whole eye lid went on a diet maybe 1/8" and the head of the bolt is flatter. That and the inner part got shaved a little I guess so the bolt would go all the way down but like I said it's not even that close.

See what I mean idk what the difference is but I dont think this manifold would have had anyclearance issues even without the grinding. To be honest bfore this there was only one other person that posted pics and he said he had a problem and everyone assumed it was a common thing but I think that may have just been a bad one which is very plausable considering the company and it's reputation for consistancy. Anyway as you can see if you do have to mod it it's not a lot of work at all.

IMO, it comes way to close to the thermostat housing. Just imagine how much heat is going to be placed on it. But, none the less, it looks like a great piece for our cars. The only other thing I would do is get it powder coated or use heat wrap with some silicone.

I will let people know how the engine temps look with it but to be honest I'm not worried. I have a hyperlube additive for the cooling system to make it run cooler a aluminum racing radiator and I'm probably gonna give the t-stat housing the same treatment as the manifold. Just so it's clear to anyone that sees this as a waste of time I"m only in for 150 for the manifold 200 for the radiator setup and maybe 20 bucs for the manifold paint.coats. Less than 400 for a manifold that will out spool just about every other manifold not including a custom one.

My buddy has one of those manifolds on his Gvr4 and it has already cracked and of all places, on the waste gate dump tube and it has very few miles on it.

What do you mean of all places. You have a arm that is not supported holding a 40mm(which answers the other question of what size flange) wastegate. I def plan on finding the lightest 40mm I can. That or maybe putting a support bar or bracket to help out. Actually if you make a recirc tube you will be doing yourself a huge favor because the dump tube will support it.

I def wouldn't run a normal upper rad hose with this thing though I just put it on and it is too close i have to admit. I'm not worried about the t stat housing as much as the hose. I"m gonna figure something out with tha and post pics but stock hose is asking for problems. Now tha I think about it the one guy who had pics and the videos had someyellw hose I wonder what brand that was.
