I'm trying to replace my o2 sensor and the socket that I tried (looks like a spark plug socket with a cutout for the wire) wont fit over the nut on the sensor. Upon inspection it looks like the socket can't fit into the space between the sensor and the little 'shelf' below it.

Would my best bet be turning down the socket on a lathe until it'll fit or do the small 'crows foot' style o2 sensor sockets work without modification ? Autozone rents those out.

Ended up turning the socket on a lathe until it was a bit thinner and fit easily. Thanks guys.
