Modifying O2 sensor to fit?

I recently purchased a lot of parts for my 2G because I just got a swap. I got the car back yesterday, but the guys said that I ordered the wrong O2 sensor because the plug on the one I bought was circle, and the one on the car is a square plug. I contacted the company I bought it from and they said that they don't have any records of my buying a O2 sensor from them. So, now I can't return it...I don't wanna waste money by leaving the O2 sensor laying around the house, knowing I can't do anything with it. So here's the main question:

Is there someway I can chop the plug and connect the good O2 sensor to the square plug? I know I'd have to chop the wiring and reconnect it, but I was wondering if that would be possible to do without throwing any codes?

First you have to figure out if it's the same O2 sensor type (heated or or non-heated, number of wires, etc.) Honestly I wouldn't mess around with it. Try getting the part number and seeing what vehicle it's supposed to go on and then sell it on ebay.

Yea, that does sound like a good idea. I really don't wanna mess around with the O2 sensor because I really don't wanna risk messing something up.

re-wiring isn't that hard. How many wires are on the new O2 sensor, and what colors are they?

I believe there's a gray, a black, and TWO white wires, but the shop told me that if you don't wire the white one's correctly, it'll send the wrong signal to the ECU.

The white ones are the heater wires, they bring it upto operating temperature from a cold start. If you wire the gray and black ones to the matching ones on your sqare plug you shouldn't have any problems.
Make sure that you make a good soldered connection and use heat shrink tube to cover those connections.
