O2 sensor replcaed now bigger problem

I was going down the road downshifting from fourth to third coming to a red light when my car lost all power. When it was slowing down the car kept surging making the rpm tach along with all the dash lights go crazy. I automatically pull over get out of the car look around to find out the only problem i can see is my down stream o2 sensor was on the ground. It had broken off? So i rolled it down the road to a friends shop went picked up a wire in o2 sensor. Now that i have replaced it, my wideband is showing 10.0 - 11.2 now matter what im doing. It also barley runs. Can anybody help?

You have the wideband in the front O2 location?
Any chance that part of the engine wiring harness got caught in something?

Well i put the car on a lift and found that there are three o2 sensors so im guessing my wideband is the one in the middle. They also had defouler on the one that came out. The sensor i bought wouldnt fit back in so ihad to drill it out. this wouldnt have any effect would it?

The only sensor that effects the operation of your car is the front one.

your wide band should be up front at the bottom of the minfold, the other one just behind the cat is just for emissions purposes making sure that the cat is fucntional

Was the defouler on the rear most one possibly? I think that might be a common thing to use to trick the ECU into thinking the rear o2 is working when there is no cat.

I will upload some pictures of all the o2 sensors and the one i replaced. Something doesnt seem right.

Yes the defouler was on the very back one

Update: I have gotten the car to idle normally but still has miss and running rich when i hit the gas. Put in new plugs but they didnt help. Then it did and when i tried to restart it it acted like the battery was dead. Then once it started i turned on the headlights and all the guages quit working the radio quit working and everything else electrical. The only thing i did notice is while this was happening the car was running 100% perfect. Could this be a computer issue?

I guess it could be computer related but it sounds like somewhat of a short to me. Did all your funtions return after your turned the headlights back off?
When I got my hollowed cat I bought an oxygen sensor spacer for the rear o2 sensor. that got rid of my cel. but even with the cel the car ran normal... well after I changed my plugs out.

To me if I am reading your post right is sounds like there is a short or grounding issue somewhere. check every wire that may be near a moving part and make sure nothing is touching a ground source.

I had the same problem last week, I changed my battery and everything ran normally after. Basically its false readings being sent. I recommend charging your battery, or check to see if you have a load that is draining it. Amp,Alarm,fans etc...

Check your whole power system to see if they are all right. A bad alternator could be giving you these false codes as well.

Okay sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I traced the rear o2 sensor wires and found no problems. I got a scanner and read codes. I got codes p0105 p0100 and p0110. I did some searching and saw that these codes come up when the o2 sensor ground in the ecu is blown. Removed ecu cracked it open to take a look and sure enough that's the problem. Thanks for all the help

Could be a bad ground and giving bad readings. or ecu, possibly needing to be re-capped.
