2G O2 Sensor Heater fault P0135

I got Check Engine Soon light on, so went to auto zone to scan with obdII:

P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

Its a 99 GST. So what is my cars problem guys?

Was it a OEM sensor or universal?

Sounds like it's time to get out the wiring diagram and multimeter and do some diagnostic work.

Should I get a new sensor or should I check this one first? (and how do you chceck sensors?)
