Not sure where to post this but I'll try here.

Just curious what people are using and having the best luck with when it comes to washers for the O2 housing? Are you using the same washers as you use for the turbo-to-manifold, or something else? I have always had the worst luck with o2 housing leaking due to broken washers or bolts backing out. I can find the new bolts anywhere but nobody talks about the washers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not looking to for the cheap stuff that "might" hold up. I'mm looking for what is proven to work and keep working.

Thanks :thumb:

I haven't had any problems with generic SS flat washers on the o2 housing. If you have problems of bolts backing out then I'd use flat and lock washers per bolt.

I've tried that too. The lock washer ends up flatening out and breaking and allowing the bolt to back out. Maybe I'll just stick with the same washers used from turbo to mani.

Thanks

I reused the OE o2 housing washers and they have worked fine. I got two new bolts from extremepsi and used copper antisieze. I kept the one o2 housing stud and got a new nut for it.
I know you didn't mention it, but I thought I'd add that I wouldn't use loctite in this situation.

Here's a few things that might be helpful:
Are you using a new metal o2/turbo gasket? A lack of one or a reuse may cause leaks.
Are you torqueing the o2 housing to factory manual specs (also, are you sure your torque wrench is accurate)?
Are you checking and rechecking the o2 housing torque after a few heat cycles?

If you can, take off the turbo and inspect and clean out the threads the bolts go into.

Thank you MachV Motorsports. I found a parts diagram and solved my own issue with this. The same washers are used with the O2 housing-to-turbo as the turbo-to-manifold.

If anyone still wants to share what they use it would still be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I would never use loctite on something that I have to take apart again later. I am using all copper gaskets now but I was using new oem metal gaskets. I would never reuse a gasket that's been tourqued. I am also going to start using the copper spray and see if that helps at all. I am always real patient with my building but I just have bad luck in this one spot. I usually retorque 2 times. I drive around at normal temp for about 20min, let cool and retorque, then I drive around at normal temp for about 30min, let cool and retorque. Not sure why this doesn't work for me.

Thanks again,
Jon
