nx intercooler sprayer solenoid HELP!!!!!!

Hey guys. I need some help on buying a replacement solenoid for my nx intercooler spayer for my talon. Mine burnt out. I found one from nx but its close to $200. Theres some on ebay but dont know which one will work? Old one just connects to sprayer bar then to hose from bottle connects to solenoid. Any help would be great! Thx
 
Any basic solenoid will work,they're all pretty much the same aside from shear size that dictatesmaximum flow. they all use 1/8 NPT pipe thread so hooking up either a larger or smaller solenoid wil easily be done with basic hand tools

Really all you need is the smaller solenoids like commonly used for purging or like the ones used on the single nozzle systems, the larger solenoids are for flowing mass amounts of nitrous like you'd need for a 250+hp direct port system.

If i can give you one peice of advice it's not to waste expensive nitrous spraying the outside of an intercooler where it's doing almost no good.,. Iwould change over to c02 for IC spraying as it MUCH cheaper and does almost as good of a job, but for what you pay for nitrous the amount you waste to gain 20-30hp from cooling a heat soaked intercooler would last 10times as long delivering a still super cooling 50 shot inside the intercooler piping.

I am not trying to sound rude about it or anything but these systems IMO are one of the biggest wastes of nitrousoxide ever invented. the amount they spray out for cooling is probably in the range of what would be needed to deliver 150+hp shot to the engine for a 1/4mile pass... take that puppy, leave the "ring" on for looks or to hook to co2 later, and buy yourself a single nozzle, a fuel and replacement nitrous solenoid and experience instant spool, instant extra HP, and better cooling of IAT's than you'd ever see from sprayin the outside of the core(again this is just my suggestions based on the performance you gain per dollar you spend spraying the outside of the cooler) as well as having the bottle last much longer. spraying a 50shot for spool on my car i will get so much time/use out of a 10lb bottle that i can't really count it when used for just spool or for a single gear pull.. but an average is that on a 125hp shot on my 5 liter,i would get 4-5 quarter mile pulls using it from 2nd through 4th, before it was surging from being empty

but i'll give it that they look cool.. when i used one on my supercharged t-bird i switched to co2 after the first half tank of nitrous was expended and i still got the same gains but at a much cheaper price.. for 17 bucks i could get a "Q" size carbon dioxide bottle that i could use to refill the 10 lbnitrous bottle at least 5times using just a temperature transfer method. Freeze the nitrous bottle for an hour or 2 and have the c02 bottle at room temp..connect them with a hose and open both bottles - (you often had to turn the co2 bottle upside down because of their lack of siphon tube) this method even used with nitrous will download about 9 of the 10 lbs the typical bottle holds, the pumps they have on fill stations are really only needed to get that last pound in or when doing a "hot fill" when both bottles are room temp.

well, that';s a lot more than you asked for, and don't take my opinion of IC sprayers personally, we all have our thoughts, I just think you'de be 1000 times happier using the nitrous the way most cars would. And i am speaking frommy personal experiences using it both ways on my own cars in the past 10 years... Hell if anything just make the sprayer your "purge" and put some LEDD's on it :) those look cool and you'd still have a nice shot of power going in the engine and the purge wouldn't be 'wasted" just spraying up and out the hood :D
 
Wow that was alot of info. I take no offense at all. Always like others input on stuff. I do use co2 for the sprayer. Thats what it calls for in directions. I only really use it if its hot out and going to race someone. I used it at the track couple times. Best I seen was 2 tenths. That was using it after couple runs tho. I was pro heat soaked? Im running super side mount ic. In the summer I can tell when I use it. Its def not like fast and furious LOL but I can notice. I know theres a time limit that you can have a solenoid powered up. On the nx it was 20 sec limit then it would burn up coil. Thats how I burnt it out. I was cleaning inside of my car a must of hit the switch by accident. I smelt something burning. Pissed me off cause I only used it a hand full of times. So I wonder the time limit on the other solenoids out there? Also can you spray co2 threw a solenoid made for no2? Thx
 
ok,cool, i've seen some wasting 5 dollar a pound nitrous on their FMIC's LOL

anyway, a solenoid doesn't much care what's going through it, the only difference between your standard fuel and nitrous solenoids are the materials used at the tiny sealing point on them, other than that it';s jsut a magnet that pulls a plunger up from a seat and lets "X fluid/gas" through a hole..

most all pneumatic solenoids rated forthe pressure of nitrous and nitrogen can handle CO2, co2 actually has a slight oil in it that preserves the life of solenoids and air tools when used to power them but nitrogen doesn't, and it's also said that pure oxygen should never be put into a tank that was used or has held co2 because of this oil.. weird but true that pure oxygen can combust when contacting some greases/oils.. but in the form of n20 where the oxygen is bound tothe two nitrogen molecules it's not available to burn or even combust fromthis mixing. mostdon't know it but you can hold a lighter in front of spraying nitrouse and it will just put the flame out.. the oxygen doesn't become available to "burn" until after the mixture has been heated to 550* F or above and at that point the nitrogen seperates from the oxygen leaving it to burn and the nitrogen has for lack of better words evaporated and absorbed the heat around it.. nitrous doesn't reach these temps until iun the combustion chamber, and most all nitrous backfires you see are due to fuel that settled and puddled in the intake and blew up, not the actual nitrous

no problem and yea you're right, but that 12.08 was on FWD, open diff, old turbo and only 19psi... there's so much more in the line of mods and power that today i should be deep into the 11's if not faster if i can drive it right;)

that 12.08 was done on what dyno'd out to be 332hp/312tq, nowi'm surely surpassed my previouse best of 438/396 with the new holset (i mean i feel the power increase so it has to be there, i'mhoping that i'm knocking on or walking through the 500whp door right now, and if so i'll be satisfied for a few more years anyway LOL
 
Yeah I was thinking 438 whp would run quicker than a 12.08? Was gonna ask but didnt want you to take it the wrong way? Thats still dam quick. imsure you will be deep in the 11's with ## new setup. Perfect sleeper
