Ok can someone answer my question of what the difference is in the eclipse and eagle talon. i hear that the eagle is just a cheaper version of the eclipse. is this right? what about hp? someone please clear this up for me

i seen a talon with a motorized sunroof....the car was for sale but was crap,(turbo was going and made scraping sounds, rust, body damage...list goes on and on) the owner thought he knew everything......so i never thought twice about leaving it to the owner after bagging the hell outa it!!...(hehe he was in the back seat...shoulda seen his face in the mirror PRICELESS )

All Eagle Talons, Mitsubishi Eclipses(till 00), Plymouth lasers were made in Normal Illinois(along with other cars that have the dsm on them-chrysler cirrus, dodge avenger and a few others)

T/E/L All share the exact same unibody in the corrisponding years. Only diffrence were the shells with diffrent body effects and the na's and turbos had diffrent engine mount points.

Eclipses are more pricey b/c theres more of them out there than there are talons or lasers just like talons are more than lasers b/c theres more of them. And usually the eclipse had more options than the talon and ther talon had more options than the laser.

Eclipse=Maranello or Testarossa (Ferraris for you uneducated people)
Talon=Geo Metro with a 200 shot (and no I don't mean nitrous I mean bullet holes in the engine.)

my TALON has a motorized sunroof. and it has the exact same grey leather interior as TWO of my friends' eclipses! (96 GSX and 97 GST).

in 1995, the seats werent very comfortable in either cars (IMHO).


what makes them different? BUMPERS, SIDE SKIRTS, WINGS, HEADLIGHTS, TAILLIGHTS, STEERING WHEEL.


so TALON hate all you want, i'd drive either one. they are mechanically identical.

Everybody make sure to notice that the only people replying offended by my ferarri,geo weedeater comment were talon owners. Obviously they are jealous of our beautiful craftsmanship choice of Eclipse or they realized their Talons are #@%#@%#@% and have decided to defend them by expressing their opinion just as I did. The only reason the Eclipse holds its value better is that it is the closest of the bunch to being an "import, y0". If you are part of the "import scene" why would you want an "Eagle" or a "Plymouth"? Just one thing tho, there is a japan eclipse. Mitsubishi Spyder. It is an Eclipse Sypder GST but its only called a spyder. The only main difference is that it has side marker lights on the fenders in front of the door. A friend has pictures of one, he used to live over there and a friend of his bought it brand new over there. They are rare as hell but they have them in japan.

I just can't believe that this thread is still going.

DSMs wouldn't exist without Chrysler and DSMs wouldn't exist without Mistsubishi. They were the design of two major companies (Diameter Chrysler and Mistsu) forming a brief merger (Diamond Star Motors). Obviously they didn't see eye to eye on some cosmetic things and thats why they vary in apperence, also so that they could sell to a broader market.

As to Eclipses always having power roofs and Talons having mechanical ones that is BS, what dictated that feature was what the original owner put down on the sheet of paper the dealer gave them when they ORDERED THE CAR, or what the dealer ordered from the factory. Because Talons are generally cheaper people that bought them obviously weren't looking to spend as much on powered options as those that dished out extra money for an Eclipse.

Mechanically the cars are identical (I don't know how many times this has been said). It just comes down to personal preferace. I prefer Talons simply because (1) My first REAL car was a Talon (2) I see about 40 Eclipses for every 1 Talon I see. (3) I like the spoilers and bumpers a little more than Eclipses. (4) Yes Talons generally sell for cheaper than Eclipses and if I can spend less for the same car that is that much more $ I have in my pocket for parts!

Although I prefer Talons I would gladly own an Eclipse GSX anyday.

Anyway again everyone realize there are NO Eclipse owners #@%#@%#@%#@%#@%in about my earlier post only talon and laser owners . They're just trying to defend their incompetent choice of not buying an Eclipse. And for the record I bought my GST not my parents, and I know exactly what to do with it. I could rip apart a 420a or 4g63 with my eyes closed and the put it back together perfectly with my hands tied behind my back.
