What's up guys (and girls),
I have a 91 Eclipse GS-T and for some reason it's not getting any spark (or at least seems that way). It started fine everyday (the battery, alternator, spark plugs, and plug wires are all fairly new) and then one day it just wouldn't start. It turns over and sounds exactly as it did before when I started it, it just won't actually ignite. I was wondering if anyone has had any sort of problem similar to this or if anyone knew what it might be. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Are you smelling fuel when your trying to start it??? If not more than likely you have a bad ECU. When it goes out it cuts spark and fuel to your car, and you hear a clicking from behind the radio when you go to turn the key. Hope this helps.

I'd visually check for spark. Do one at a time, unscrew the plug and place it back in the boot of the wire, let it rest against the block and have someone else turn over the car...not necessarily start it, but enough for you to see spark..if no spark, check your wire connection at the coils.

If you see spark and don't smell fuel like urcnjoe said, I'd look at the fuel pump.

If you don't see spark and smell fuel, I'd look at the wires and coils

If the all check out, then I'm with urcnjoe and check the ECU

Good luck, hope this helps.

Always check to make sure the ECU is at least powering up before you start swapping and changing everything else. The check engine light should turn on for 5-6 seconds when you first turn the ignition on and on turbo cars the factory boost gauge should go to 0.

OK, well it's definitely not getting any spark. Where the fault lies however, I don't know.
When I turn the key, the check engine light and everything comes on, and it turns over, just won't ignite. I don't seem to smell any fuel when I try to start it though. I'm thinking my problem lies in either the CAS, the coil, or the ignition control module, but I haven't actually checked those yet. I'll keep this post updated. Thanks for the help so far!
