I recently installed a 14b onto my 2gb and everything was fine, when I noticed that the boost would just keep going up and up and up to where I had to let off around 16psi. I looked and saw that the lower radiator hose was pinching the boost feed line that goes to the mbc, and the wastegate actuator wasnt seeing any boost. so I moved the radiator pipe out of the way and fixed the feed line so its not kinked like it was before. Now before, when it was kinked, the 14b would spool up to any boost that i wanted 15psi and beyond (never went past 17psi), now it only spools up to about 10 psi and stays there throughout the rpm range, in addition my cel light came on. I figured i had a boost leak somewhere so i checked all the piping and what not. i noticed the clamp around the bov was a little loose so i tightened that up. I went out again and still only hit 10psi and my cel light is still on. I guess i have two questions; how do i determine what my cel is flashing to me and why cant i boost more than 10psi? im sure i dont have any boost leaks.... and the car drives perfectly fine. and the w/g arm is still connected.

I had the same problem with my mbc. I took out the top screw and noticed the spring inside was half way sideways. So it was as if I had screwed it down to 15 psi. Wouldnt boost any less or any more.. got a fork, yes a fork, and straigtened the spring out. Works fine now, hope you have the same problem.

well the spring inside the mbc is just fine... i still dunno why it wont spool past 10. ive got to have some kind of boost leak because I tightened the mbc screw in all the way and it still sits a 10 psi, still pulls harder than my t-25 at 13 psi tho :p but i really wanna get this fixed any help would be appreciated

Just went to autozone to get the cel light cleared up... apparently the code came up as air/fuel metering? I dont know why that woud come up the car runs perfectly.. i dunno im stumped

Try another known working mbc, sound like yours isn't doing it's job.

What intake are you using? Did the plug on your maf come loose? Please say you are not "venting" your BOV. What are you using for a boost gage?

Remember if you are using the stock gage it will only read as correctly as the ECU is seeing things from the MAF. DO NOT RUN YOUR CAR with a mod if you do not have a boost gage. The odds of breaking something are very very high.

I, nor anyone else, can not comment on this problem until we have a little more information. It could be as simple as your maf is reading wrong causing the little gage in your dash to read wrong. End result could be you pushing 22 psi on the stock fuel system and blowing up your car because you turned the mbc up all the way and didn't know what you were really boosting.

Let us know some more information and we will help you out all we can.

alrighty my mods are very simple as follows: 14b turbo ( slowboy racing 2g install kit), 1g bov, faze boost gauge and slowboy racing mbc and that is all. The car drives perfectly fine it just wont spool past 10 psi. It used to spool endlessly because the lower radiator hose was pinching the boost feed from the lower intercooler pipe and when it got up to 15 psi i would have to let off as not to overrun the fuel system. I got the kink out of the boost feed, and that was all I did. The way the car is running, is exactly as how it would run if the 14b was hooked up to a pressure source, like it was running off of stock boost. yet i played with the mbc to see if boost would change and it still remains at 10 psi even if I tighten the mbc in all the way.... is there a way i can do a boost leak test? i have limited tools at the moment because im up at school. Tomorrow, Im going to take a thorough inspection and re tighten all intercooler clamps and make sure all the vacuum lines are in thier correct places to see if i can find the source of the problem. I dont think its a boost leak because wouldnt it run kinda funny? i mean at 10psi it feels like a raped ape, then again my only comparision is a t-25... I hope that my boost gauge is reading correctly and im not accidently overboosting. thank you all for your input

definetly not venting my bov

is the hose that runs to the top of the bov correctly connected? this might allow your bov to open under boost.

other than that if you want to try something and be very very carefull you can pull the hose to the wastegate actuator. DO NOT OVER BOOST THE CAR. However, this will allow you to see if it is a problem with the wastegate/boost controller or with another part of the car.

The CEL makes me think that you have a leak somewhere.

You dumbass.. :tease: At least you came back and told the truth, most of them just keep their mouth shut or make up something.
