Noob question...

I know this question has been asked time and time again, but I was wondering if anybody has heard anything about the rebuild kits at John's Foreign Engines 1-800-456-9645 I just bought the car, but it doesn't run. I'm planning to rebuild it myself. It is going to be a DD for now, but I also want to take it to the track on test and tune night. I don't really know how much hp I want, maybe around 350-400. But my big question is will this rebuild kit get me there? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I would look into getting some 2G or Evo pistons and using your stock rods. That is more that enough to hold what you are looking for. There are obviously other things that you needs to do ( fuel, drive train, ect. )

I took a look and honestly haven't had experience with them but their kits don't even list what brands are in their kits. Some companies will make their own kits with whatever is available at the time or what is cheapest for them at the time. You might want to check out some of the supporting vendors of this site most would be more than happy to give advice and maybe even steer you clear of "problem" brands. I priced a few items on the site and they seemed awfully high considering you don't know what your getting. Look at the brands some of the supporting vendors sell. That will tell you what is quality.

When i started on my motor project i was looking at 2g or evo pistons. then i found i could get forged ones for only a little more. just make sure you shop around.
