so today I come out this morning to start up the old dsm.... blah blah let her warm up everything is normal.... Then i give her a free rev I hear this noise coming from the head or turbo so I rev it a few times to hear this noise that sounds like a dirt bike but with a little deeper of a growl. so I I checked my turbo for shaft play etc everything. is good. fn phone sucks or I would take a video I just went and listed to it again almost sounds like somethings loose in the head

bump anybody help i dissembled my motor to see if i spun a bearing. nope all the bearings were perfect.... so I moved onto the head everything looked fine i pushed on each of the lifers trying to see if one was bad :(

Im at a loss right now id like to re assemble the motor :(

i know you said you checked the lifters but i have a noise like that and a guy that machined my extra head said it sounded like a collapsed lifter .... just throwing it out there

when you checked the bearings, did you look at the pistons, you may have a cracked/busted skirt, or a collasped piston.

looking at the pistons only thing I noticed was a small scrapes on the top of the pistons nothing crazy though valves must have been hitting a little... Ugh back to the drawing board

Compression test 2days before came back perfect to :(

you would have had to look at the bottom to look at the piston skirts....

bent valves, you would have a skip miss....

Sounds very similar to the sound I heard when my timing jumped due to the tensioner not installed properly. I didn't bend valves but the timing marks were off. Same description of the sound though. Did you check the timing marks before you took off the head?

You need to check for piston slap on the 4th cylinder....If I had to guess my bet would be the wrist pin because that gets loud as #### when it's reved up. That sounds really bad I'm not going to lie to you.
