so I have a 1997 Eclipse GSX Automatic. The vehicle was running like crap, sputtering and stalling when I came to red lights. I parked it a few weeks back and it won't start now.
What I know.
It does have spark, Checked all four plugs/wires (which are brand new NGK by the way)by putting plug into wire and grounding it on engine and cranking, all spark no problem.
It does have fuel, when I pull the plugs after cranking engine a few times the plugs are soaked with fuel. Also checked fuel lines going in and out of fuel rail, fuel is flowing.

I do have a CEL. It did say only MAF (mas airflow) back when it was running. Replaced the MAF now it no longer pulls that code. It does now pull codes for MAP sensor, IAT sensor. Replaced the MAP sensor, still wont start.

We HAVE been able to start it a couple times using starting fluid, but it involves spraying A LOT of fluid into the engine while we are cranking it. It starts and idles like crap and as soon as we shut it off it wont start again.

I have tested the CAS (cam angle sensor), it is getting power and signal wire is sending signal.

I am open to any and all suggestions please please please, its almost spring time and I want to be able to drive this car this summer. Thank you for looking.

Update, after reading the article you recommended it occured to me that the coolent temp sensor is puling a code and that this sensor could cause the engine to dump too much fuel into the engine thus causing it to not start. I swapped out this sensor, tested it according to that article, still nothing. Although it did backfire a lot... possibly bad timing? maybe it jumped a tooth from it running so rich when it WAS running? i'll check timing tomorrow to make sure. Thanks again, any other help is welcome!

I agree with you. Check the timing first and then go from there. Maybe it is getting enough fuel. Sounds like timing is bad though.
