Hello,

I recently just installed my Evo III IM and Supra FP along with an aeromotive AFPR.

Upon reconnecting everything the car will not start. It will crank gets spark and I have checked to make sure the fuel pump is working by disconnecting the line and placing it in a container then cranking the car(fuel comes out). The gauge on the aeromotive is at 0 at least when I jump out of the car and go check after cranking. I have checked all connectors, coil pack, everything i could think of.

Do you have to build pressure after relieving it in the fuel line for a couple days? Is there something i am overlooking. There are no leaks from what I see. It doesn't seem like it is building pressure but I know the AFPR is sealed after the fuel rail, I can't smell fuel coming from anywhere.

Please any ideas, throw them at me.

It should read 43.5 psi on the afpr with the key in the on position. Double check to be sure the fpr is hooked up correctly

Um, that's only if he has the fuel pumps set to prime before cranking. In normal function, the fuel pump waits until the CAS is spinning before starting to pump fuel.

but 43.5 psi is the normal base fuel pressure for a 2g (with the engine not running).

The fuel pumps do not prime before cranking. I hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the engine over. Is it possible I did not install the fuel pump correctly and its only moving a small amount of fuel? I dont know what else it could be I guess I could check if the injectors are firing or not but I don't know why they would just stop. I am going to check all fuses relays and what not tomorrow after work.

Any other ideas let me know thanks.

You're using a static ECU flash and trying to dynamically change your car's tuning. Get an engine management system that's capable of keeping up.

The gauge shouldn't read zero. The fuel pressure should not bleed down that fast. If the pump was working properly, fuel pressure should jump up immediately and you would be able to see it if you got out and looked. Have someone try to start the car while you look at the gauge and see whats up.

EcuFlash can keep up with my mods just fine.

Did you rewire the pump? If so, thats what i bet your problem is.

I had rewired the pump before and it was working fine I am using the same wiring now.

I installed the pump using the vfaq and some threads on here. Like I said, when I disconnected the feed line into a bucket and cranked the car over fuel came out. I'm just wondering if its possible that the seal where the pump connects to the top of the assembly into the feed line is somehow not completely sealed and only moving a small amount of fuel.

I will double check everything I can think of tonight and get back to you.

It's the horrible red valve cover :p

You verified the fuel pump works, however if you attempt to start the car you should hear it whine. I have 0 fuel pressure after sitting for a couple hours and I start right up.

You have the CAS plugged in? Do you get any fuel pressure reading on the AFPR gauge?

I'm thinking it's the AFPR to be honest as someone said above, it shouldn't bleed down that quickly.

I hate my valve cover so much hahaha. Id rather it flat gray then patchy red.
and my engine bay is covered in dust from when the car was painted.

Funny thing when I first started it the CAS was NOT plugged in. I did plug it back in however.

Interesting I really didn't think it was that easy for an AFPR to fail. I will replace the afpr with my stock one. Even if the supra pump will over run it it should still get pressure and start.

If the stock FPR allows it to start the. You found your issue. Before hand, disconnect the return line and see if fuel comes out that end and if it leaks afterwards.

Please mark this as resolved.

The issue was caused because when I installed the supra pump I neglected to use the black spacer on the feed "head" of the pump so instead of "cap-o ring-spacer" I only had "cap-O-ring". Needless to say what was happening was the pump was pumping a small amount of fuel into the line and the rest back into the tank.

I snapped a picture. If you look you can see the O-ring has been pushed all the way to the base of the feed instead of being pushed inside the assembly "cap"(as BP would call it :D)

Thanks all.

I had the same problem with the supra pump. Youll need to run a -AN line off of it. Thats the only way i could get it to fit.
