My 1996 GS-T does not get spark on cylinders 1 + 2. I've checked the plugs, wires, coil and now the transistor. It's possible my connector for the transistor may need swapping and I'll probably try that also but I was looking for any other input. Help would be much appreciated.

Cylinders 1 and 2 are supplied spark by different coils. 1 and 4, 2 and 3 fire at the same time so if 3 and 4 are working your problem would be between the coils and the plugs. The coil pack runs off of 3 wires, so everything up to that connector would have to be good for 3 and 4 to work properly. What exactly is the car doing and how exactly have you been testing things?

Yes, I'm aware that 1 + 2 get spark from different coils. I've verified that the same problem exists even on a different coil unit not the individual packs. I swapped plug wires between them to test if it was just the wires, such as 3+4 wires on 1+2. I hooked up the firing order according to same thing you said with the understanding that 1+4 and 2+3 go together on the same piston stroke.

The car will turn over and it will attempt to start, sometimes will actually start and run/idle rough for a few seconds before shutting off. My plugs from cylinders 1 + 2 come out covered in gas.

I'll give that connector a good look over and let you know what happens. How often is it that the connector itself goes bad?

There's nothing to really go bad on the connector unless it is broken and will not stay clipped on to the power transistor, or if it will not hold the pin on the end of the wire in the connector properly. Just make sure all the wires seem secured in the connector housing and look for any that are loose or broken.

Well I went and made sure it was pushed on tight then tried starting it and it started right up ran for a few minutes then shut off. I checked the wires in the connector and two of them were pushed back a decent bit probably barely touching if at all.

I've tried to put the wires back into place but I think I may have flooded it after it shut off when I tried to start it back up again. I'll try again later and let you know what happens.
