OK guys. Just bought a 99' gs. The kid before me replaced the head gasket and when finished the repair, No spark.

heres what i checked.
- Coil pack
- Fuses
- Its getting fuel
- Crank sensor
- Cam sensor

Im checking everything and more....and its starting to become a PITA
any ideas at all?

Are your plugs getting fuel?
Is your timing correct. 100%
What happened to make your car not run?
It seems to me you have replaced about everything electrical.

Also your compression is low. Maybe you have a headgasket issue or bad rings.

Take a plug and the plug wire connected to it and put it to the valve cover or somewhere metal and have someone crank the car, look for spark. Do this for all 4 plugs.
I am trying to think of ideas.
But basically you need air, fuel, and spark. Eliminate each and what goes with those. Be sure to check timing.

Injectors do have fuel at them. A lot of pressure in fuelrail and the pump is working. No electricity to the injector pigtail though. Timing has been checked and is good. I didnt do anything to makenit not run, just went to start one morning and wouldnt start. My compression is low, but its the same in all 4 cylinders, whats the chance that every cylinder lost compression at the exact same time and all have the same issue to all equal same compression. I have done the spark test with a screw driver, along with a testlight and a multimeter. 1 & 4 arent firing but 2 & 3 are.

I have bought a new asd relay but the guy at advanced didnt seem to sure it was the right one. So I am going to bypass it when I get home and see if thats the problem

Would sommeone be able to help me with what each pigtail harness and everything else should read. Which wires are for what. Because I connected a multimeter to see what the resistance is, but that mainly tells me the wire is complete, doesnt mean you can get a good volt off off of it. So does anyone know what each wire is? To the cam and crank sensor, to the asd relay, vss sensor, coilpack, and how the injectors work ( 12v always on 1 wire then when cranking it grounds, or viseversa) I can find all this info

I would check into the VSS. I believe its tied in with the cam and crank signals. I dont think the 420a has a knock sensor at all.

Have you checked the VSS yet? Even if your tach still works that doesnt mean that the sensor is good. There still could be a short. Its tied in with the cam and crank signals and can cause a no spark issue... A bad VSS has lead to many no spark issues in the forum.

ENGINE ROTATES BUT WILL NOT START
1-feul tank empty
2-battery discharged( engine rotates slowly)
3-battery terminal connections loose or corroded
4- leaking feul injector(s),faulty feul pump,pressur regulator
5- feul not reaching feul rail
6-ignition components damp or damaged
7-worn, faulty or incorrect gapped spark plug, plugs
8-broken,loose or disconnected wiring in the starting circit
9-loose distributor or crank angle sencer is changing ignition timing
10- broken ,loose or disconnected wires at the ignition coil or faulty coil

I have unplugged it and it was caked full of gunk in the pigtail. I cleaned it out, should I replace?

Have any of you guys fixed this problem? I'm having the same issues as the original guys. Second this isn't about 4g63's?^

Was the harness ever unpluged if so the coil wire and speed sensor wire are the same make sure the right one is in the right place you can tell by a red lock on the plug thats the speed sensor plug

you realize you just revived this thread right? :applause:
