ok, i've searched a ton and just have a quick question. I've just swapped in a jdm motor into my 96 gsx and am not getting spark from the coils. It was pulling code p0335 and my scanner said that it was a crank angle sensor malfunction. I changed out the sensor to the one from my old motor and no difference. My friend let me log on to his alldata account and it said that this code could also be from a bad ecm. Do you need a different computer to run the jdm motor, or could this just be a coincidence that mine went out? Is there anything else I should check out. There is power getting to the coils, but I get no spark. I'm going to be able to try out a friends ecm later this week to see if that fixes it, but i wanted to see if there is anything else i should be considering/checking at this point. Also, how can I check the sensors to make sure that they are ok?

Thanks!

is this a 6bolt that uses a cas? if so take the cas off, leave it plugged in and spin it by hand. You should get spark and hear the injectors/fuel pump turn on..

try checking the ignitor. I know they are also part of the ignitions system. I know on my 1g my ecu went out. One thing that gave it away was my stock boost gauge quit working. If the gauge doesn't go up and 0 out the ecu is bad on a 1g. I am not for sure if the same applies to a 2g. I also checked the red wire on my cam sensor to verify that it was getting 12volt when the car was cranking and it wasn't. This told me that I had a ecu problem also. Turns out the capacitors had leaked out. I know you can jump the red wire out directly to the battery on my 1g and the car started up. You just have to unhook when you aren't driving it. The cam sensor only needs voltage when the car is running. I now have my standalone (Autonics) controlling the cam sensor. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem before. You need to swap the two main power wires on the ignition coil.

check the power transistor? i don't know where they are on 2G, but on 1G they are lower corner of the top side Cam cover. Well below the 1G original ignition coil location.

It has to do with the 1g cas. Even if you invert the signal for the injectors, you will need to change the two main power wires on the ignition coil. You will not need to swap spark plugs. What coil you use is no matter. It all has to do with the 1g cas.

so is this the cause of having no spark??

i will try to change the wires tonight, is there any more detail you can give me about it or should it be pretty self explanatory?

The problem your have should be that you are not getting ignition (ie. not getting spark at the right time in the cylinders). When you take out your ignition coil and look at the back, you should see two black plastic caps that cover the wires that attach to the two coils(primary and secondary). The two top wires need to be switched over. It is very simple. When you look at it, you should understand what I am talking about.

If you are still not getting spark, make sure that the cas is centered and not turned all the way to retard or advance. But, this is what you DO need to do to make your engine run with a 1g cas.

this sounds funny but as a tip, it could just be insufficient voltage..because i had a bad battery checked code it was CAS then i bought my optima redtop ..its gone and never came on again and car runs so smooth
