So when i put my cluch in it is REALLY lose. i saw a post from a long time ago and it said to replace the slave cylinder and put in a ss line. Then bleed it. i am not machanicly incline so my question is

Can i install this myself or do i need to get it professionaly done?

Thanks for any help

Sure you can change the slave cylinder yourself and you will need someone to help you bleed it unless you just do a gravity bleed. The job doesnt take too much time either.

You will need to go underneath the car. It is near the center frame rail just to the driver's side on the lowest part of the transmission.

It's also a good idea to change your master cylinder at this time. Both items see the same amount of wear and tear.

You can do this job by driving up some ramps or supports, but if you choose to jack it up, SECURE WITH JACKSTANDS BEFORE YOU CRAWL UNDER.

So i live in apartments and cant really jack it up. :notgood: So it sounds like i am going to have to take it to a shop. is the slave sylinder all i need to fix this problem. i dont want the shop to tell me i need a bunch of other stuff that i dont really need just so they can make a buck.

Im going threw this problem as we speak. What type of clutch did you install. The slave is just 2 bolts holding it on the tranny. You will find the slave if you look right about the subframe. it has the rod attaching to the pivot fork. The SS kit is easy to install, While your there its easy to change the master i got it for 40 bucks. Its one 12mm nut on the firewall, one inside on the pedal assembly. Remove the 2 12mm nuts holding the resvouir on and then remove the old clutch line tape it off so you can still reuse if need be and install new master, install fitting, then attach line to fitting. I just stuffed the line on the rear firewall and attached clips. Wicked sweet to do.

Just quick thought and not to offend you or anything but did you check your fluid? I ask this because alot of the time people switch out the slave cylinder and all they had to do is refill their master cylinder fluid and bleed it out until its stiff again.

this is where the fluid should go. make sure its filled to where it says max
(this is my cars old engine bay by the way hahahahaha)

a slave should take 30 mins at most.....hardest part is bleeding it correctly.....pick up a service manual from auto zone and go to town!

Wow. Word of advice, do ALL proper maintenance before assuming something is broke. You should not have to take it to a shop, just borrow a jack from someone and do it yourself. I changed mine about a month ago, took about an hour or two.

Put fluid in it, see if it works, pump it a bunch of times, move the car and see if it leaks.

crimsonGST if i am new to the game i dont really know what maintenance to do. that is why i try to read as much as i can on here. And nothing said to chech the fluid. sorry. i am trying to learn to do it myself. and i am just trying to get all the help that i can get from the pros of DSM.

WRONG, DO NOT pump it a bunch of times. it not the brakes....just gravity bread it with a hose on the end in some fresh fluid

I get that, and I'm sorry if I came off like a tool, but the first thing anyone should do before you start asking questions is check all your fluids. You should change your oil every 3-4k miles, and check it quite often. You can use brake fluid, thats what I use. Fill up your reservior, and bleed the system. Keep filling it until your clutch feels full again. While your at it, go ahead and check everything else. IE brake fluid, oil, coolant, things like that. Check EVERYTHING. Get a haynes or chilton manual. They will save your life. Your taking a big risk if all maintenance is not done. I just dont want to see your next post saying, "HELP MY CAR BLEW UP," so lets get your car in top condition, eh?:thumb:

well i am going to have to wait till this weekend to pump it. i dont have anytime during the week to do it. it is my DD, but i walk to work :thumb: I will update right after i do it.
