The car is an Mitsubishi Eclise 2G GST 1997 auto.
Ok, here is the deal; I installed megasquirt ecu with the manual from diyautotune.
Megasquirt is doing fuel and spark, original ECU controls everything else. The problem is that I get fuel pressure when I am cranking but after the car is on idle, the fuel pressure stops and the car dies after a few seconds. I have measured that I dont get any power to my alternator.
It is like the engine is on but the original ECU thinks that the car is not idling.
If it makes any difference, I have installed an Evo 1-3 CAS and done the wiring accourding to magnusmotorsport wiring diagram, but I think that that is not the problem because i get tach signal to megatune.
I have checked everything but I still have this problem. Could this be an grounding issue? I have checked all fuses and they seem ok.

Pls help me, any help would be appreciated:thumb:

You might want to check to make sure that the fuel pump relay is getting turned on. The MFI relay and fuel pump relay are under the passenger side panel of the center console, on a bracket. A quick fix would be to rewire the fuel pump with a toggle switch, bypassing the relay.

It's probably not the CAS, I did the same rewire and mine works fine.

If you're running a 255 or bigger fuel pump (if not you probably will eventually) you'll need to do a fuel pump rewire anyhow since the stock relay and wires aren't designed to supply the 20+ amps that can be drawn by a high performance pump.

Thank you for your answer:) I tried to Jump the fuel pump and the pump goes on, could it still be the fuel/MPI relay? Could the MPI relay be the reason for my charging issues?

I get 12V to the MPI relay harness and could measure approx. 70ohms on the pin 2 and 4 on the MPI relay.I didnt really understand how to measure continuity between pins 1 and 3 with the pins 2 and 4 wired to the battery?
When I turn the key on my stock gauge moves up a bit. That is a good signal right?

I have been wondering if I would control my fuel pump with Megasquirt also.
But I am not sure from which wire I should get the signal? Is it the fuel pressure solenoid(3) or fuel pump relay(8)?

using the megasquirt.. i would just use your laptop and try connecting to it with your logging software. if it connects with the ignition on before you start and stays connected after you crank then there is a really good chance your MPI relay is good. otherwise i would just get one of those vampire type wire splices and run a little bit of extra wire so you could connect a multimeter or test light to it and keep an eye on it that way.

Just a thought, could it just be my alternator wiring? I get tach signal and the boost gauge moves when I turn the key. I also get fuel pressure while cranking so I have started to think if my Ecu is still ok and my car doesnt stay long at idle due to too much fuel? I tried to switch to better spark plugs and the car started right away(But died after about ten seconds)
Another question; can i put new wires from the alternator plug to the positive terminal and ecu?maybe bad wiring could be the cause..?
