I've been looking and can't find any OEM struts for my 1g

I don't want to buy KYB GR-2's because they're supposedly 10-15% stiffer than stock and I bought some oem replacement Gabrielles awhile back and they were complete sh*t.

Does anyone know who has 1g oem struts?

Since I heard they're 10-15% stiffer I'm still not sure.

Anyone else try other KYB struts other than GR-2's. I'm thinking maybe they have one that is eactly or close to stock.

I'm nervous about replacement struts because one time I put on Sear's brand struts which at the time was made by Gabrielle and they were actually WORSE than having worn out struts :(

KYB has GR-2 and AGX. I have run both. My VR-4 is equipped with GR-2s at the moment with unknown 2" drop springs and has a relativly good ride quality. My 2G has GAB's in Front and AGX in rear with Eibach springs and is a rough ride but handles pretty well in corners. If you are looking for a smoother ride get the GR-2s. Unfortunately GAB are no longer available in the US. No GAB is not short for Gabriel Shocks. They were originally purchased through STILLEN who no longer carries them.

Thanks, I might have to go with GR-2's.

My first 1g had 67,000 mi on it when I bought it and the ride was good (both handling +ride compliancy) until the factory struts eventually wore out. I then put on Sear's brand oem replacements made by Gabrielle and ride was floaty and WORSE than using worn out factory struts. And although I really liked Monroe Sensatracs on 2 other cars I owned they were not dsm's or had performance oriented suspensions so am worried that those might not be quite right for 1g turbo dsm's either.

GR-2's sound like they're decent handling struts which is important to me but can anyone else comment on how they feel for regular driving and soaking up bumps? I do like a compliant ride when I'm not racing around and don't want something that feels too stiff for ordinary driving.
