Somewhere in BC,
Hey guys how's it going? I have A big problem ever since I bought my 97 eclipse gs-t I never had heat working in my car it only ever blows cold air last year I replaced my engine with a new one and also got a aluminum rad and I still have no heat I'm really baffled here with this issue, both hoses off the heater core get hot in the engine bay , I noticed the ac light stays on a lot In most settings.

It is always good to check if there is any obstructions on the hoses leading to the heater core. Also in the DSM mention there is a system of vacuums that control the passages of the air intakes to the cabin. with that being said you can test the lines for vacuum with a mighty vac or by removing them and physically checking that they work. I would personally suggest that you start inside the car and check if it is a vacuum line or to check if there is another system that changes the cold to hot gate under the dash.

Kind of sounds like there might be a problem with the blend air door. This it the door either directs air around or through the heater core. It might be stuck in the bypass position, not allowing the air to be directed through the heater core and therefore you have no heat in the cabin.

What do you mean when I look in the car I'm lost I pulled the stereo consol out to look in the area but I can't see anything when I turn the cold to hot dial it does not make a difference in temps

Is there a way the access this air blend door ?

In order to truly access it you need to remove the dash. If you drop the panel beneath the steering wheel and pull your stereo, you will be able to trace the HVAC cables to their levers and confirm its rotating fully.

Its a huge PITA though, I would double check both of your core hoses are truly hot. My car had some radiator leak stop ran though it before I got ahold of it and it likes to get into heater cores and ruin them. Now I'm just avoiding removing the dash.

Also take your air temp control knob and flip it back and forth real hard and listen for the door "thumping" from one side to the next, if the door failed it should be real easy to turn.

When I go from cold to hot on the control it moves super easy but I don't hear any thump noises if i look I can see the cable thats attached to the control switch moves when I go left to right (cold to hot)

As mentioned: with motor running, feel the two coolant lines that runs into the firewall which are connected to the heater core. If both feel hot, you should have coolant running through the core okey. But if one has a different temperature, the core is plugged, or getting plugged.

when i touch them they seem both very hot and i think my coolent temp on my data logger reads 80 im baffled

ok soo the way to access the blend door is by taking the glove box out???

Hey guys I am in my car and pulled my stereo out I can see the cable that is attached to the heat control lever and I followed the wire to the back of the dash it is still connected to a leaver that's attached to a black box If I manually move the leaver I still dont get any heat and it's super easy to move the leaver and I don't heat any thumping noises please help with this issue don't know what to do next

*update*

i think this is the prob i might have , the lever that the arrows pointing to is very lose and moves around side to side really easy when i touch it with my finger is that normal and if not how can i get to it ?? could this be the issue of me not having any heat??
