I figured I would post this in the newbie forum because I tried to search for answers, but came to no findings. The issue I am having is that my car has no working heat. As winter is approaching I am more and more concerned to fix it before it gets to cold to be a comfortable repair depending on the final verdict. I checked all of my fluids, just to give my 95 Eagle Talon Tsi a routine checkup. Coolant level came up full. Looked under the glove box a bit to see if there was any visual signs of some kind of rodent tampering, or maybe some kind of jerry rigged radio install/ heater core replacement or whatever. Did not see any visual wear. I did notice that there is a lever that is attached to a cable and when I moved around the unit that controlled it, it did not change the position of this lever. Pushed the lever over manually checked to see if there was any different but no noticeable change occurred. The other symptoms of my heat not working is also my ac unit is not working and the blower motor is very loud almost sounds like its going to come flying out at any given moment. If there are any wiring tests, or possible recommendations or solutions it would be of huge help.

Thanks!

Owned the car for approx. 6 months. Never replaced thermostat or checked resistor. How can I do this. As for operating temps it has been the same since I got it. Never gotten hotter or colder while driving. When you are talking about the flap that directs air were would this be located on the car? And heatercore being clogged any remedies for that if it could be whats wrong.

Thanks for helpful responses!

you might want to flush the heater core you can do this with a hose just unhook the hose going to the heater hose and run water through it and also make sure you have no air pockets

Will be sure to try all of these things this upcoming weekend. It would be nice to not be shaking while I drive, or have to wait 30 minutes to see through the frost on my windshield. Thanks for all the helpful advice.

if it is still blowing air out of the vents and the car is running at operating temp then i would check the blend door.

can test it out by letting it warm up the best it can, watch the temp needle, get on it a little bit and get it up to like 60mph. Watch the temp gauge, if it goes down, defiantly a bad thermostat due to it being stuck open. Better stuck open then stuck closed thou!
