Dropped a new motor in my fwd laser turbo, and everything was fine. Then the clutch got to where you had to push it all the way to the floor to get it into gear. It kept getting worse until now it wont go into gear at all unless its off, and the clutch pedal is useless. We changed the slave and master, changed the clutch and preasure plate, changed the TOB, adjusted the master adjustment rod both ways, and have blead it 100+ times.
PLEASE HELP!
 
I hate that. Till this day no one could pin point one specific problem that causes that. I did everything and nothing worked, so I redid the install and didn't bleed it. Has been working for over 7k miles. Weird!
 
The one thing I can think of that commonly affects 1st gen's that you haven't replaced, is the pedal bushings.

You can get the bushings from Sheptrans and you might want to get the pedal assembly welded after you put them in so that it doesn't happen again.

I know in my last 1g 5spd car I had to really step on the clutch pedal to get it to shift smooth, after I swapped in a welded pedal unit with the shep bushings it cleared it up.
 
check slave cylinder.

Did you check all the lines? The line by the fork can rub on these cars.
 
Not closely, but it holds fluid.

I just replaced my slave, because it had a very tiny leak. I also replaced a damaged line. My car had the same symptoms as you. I'm not sure which fixed it, as i did both at once. My system held fluid and the first time it happened, i bled it and got my pedal back. Then it started happening agian within a few hundred miles.

This car was a bone stock cherry, that hadn't been driven in 5 years. I bought it 5-6 months ago and have had to replace or upgrade litterally EVERYTHING. axles, mounts, clutch ,clutch hydraulics, engine, tranny, turbo, fuel tank, fuel system, wheel bearings, struts, the list goes on and on.
 
mine had sat for a few years also, but the slave rod moves so i think its good. i will try the lines.
 
I just had this problem! Bought the project from my buddy!

Turned out being the flywheel wasn't tightened down all the way. They were only at 23-25lbs a piece. Added some red thread locker and torqued em down to 100ft/lbs Ans finally got it in gear! I too replaced all the things you did at first!
 
I would check out the bushings, also did you ever check the clutch fork? I just know because i had to put the pedal to the floor to shift, even all the way pressed at a light 1st gear would still role :coy: Out of no where it snaped in half. I would just check to make sure its not bent or wore really bad.
