i have a 96 awd that the clutch pedal is stuck on the floor.
when i use my hand to pump the pedal, all it does islet fluid come out the resivoir, but does not disengage the clutch. i tried to bleed it to no avail.has anyone had this happen to them? i took the line off at thethe top of the tranny and then push the clutch but didnt help. someone please help

Sounds like the master and or slave cylinder has gone bad. If the pedal is going to the floor and staying and there is fluid coming out of the reservoir the it's probably a bad clutch master cylinder.

Check your master cylinder to see if any fluid or wetness is around it or on the carpet. Follow the pedal to the firewall and you'll see a rod and a black boot. That's the master cylinder. The slave cylinder is on the underside of the tranny and you can check around there too if you don't see any fluid from the master.

i do not see any fluid in the car or on the slave cylinder. so ill put a new master cylinder and let you guys know thanks

if you not seeing any fluid leak and your pedal is staying down at the floor one thing to look at is see if your pedal isnt broke (i.e. the springs and everything are still connected to pull the clutch pedal back up) and is still connect to everything inside the car. it probably will be but it could happen if you beld it properly and still nothing then your going to have to replace either the slave cylinder or master cylinder so i would disconnect the line going to the tranny and see if there is even any fluid pumping thru the line. its like the beginning of the elimination of the problem. if it goes and pushes fluid then that tells you the master cylinder is working so you would have to check out the slave cylinder.

i took the line off at the slave cylinder, and when i push the pedal down, nothing comes out of the line, so i guess its time for a master cylinder

When you did that, was the reservoir full and did you just press it or did you pump it. Did the fluid level at least drop when you pressed it in?

I've been through this, and I know what's happening. But last night I bled the system 3 times. After every time I bled the clutch and starting driving, my pedal would stay to the wall, I would pull over and my reservoir would be empty. I'm guessing this would mean that the slave cylinder is bad. Because when one of my DSM friends helped me out he would pump the clutch from the inside and the liquid would come out. But either way after like 5 minutes of driving it would gone.

So would it be the Master or slave cylinder ?
