Somewhere in BC,
Hey guys so I don't have a no cat on my car I'm just running a test pipe and just got my turbo rebuilt from Justin but when I idle my car has white smoke comming out of the exhaust and when I rev the engine seems like the smoke gets bluish in color any idea if having a test pipe and no cat installed be causing that? Please let me know???

slight oil burn. I ran no cat on my engine before and had same symptoms my compression test wasn't perfect but it was result of my turbos oil seals being bad. Then after a fresh rebuild and new turbo.. it's good no smoke. Do a compression test. see what you get.

I just had this turbo rebuilt by Justin from dsmtuners and the engine should be good just got installed last summer I thought maybe running just the test pipe is causing this issue but I dunno Ill try and do a compression test I have the tool just gotta remember how to use it,

Sounds like your burning oil. If your burning a little oil the cat could have hid that at idle. I'll bet your compression test will show some worn rings. Did you have your motor rebuilt or is it stock. And how many miles do you have on the motor?

It's one of those stock JDM 4g63t used 5 to 10,000 km/s when my mechanic had the valve cover off he was amazing on how clean it was inside, and I only drove the car. 3 months last summer then parted for the winter I have not drivin it out yet this year. I have a diff turbo in there that had a lot of shaft play but now got a diff turbo rebuilt by Justin so it should be the turbo I hope,

Ohh I don't know I think I put 300kms on it since it was install, I only drove when it was nice out I had it put in 2010 and summer of 2011 only drove it like 3 times.

Well I would get the compression test done and if the numbers are good I'd check the turbo. Sometimes seals aren't perfect. But having it rebuilt by Justin I'd think the motor would be more likely to be the problem.

does it smoke bad upon start-up and gradually smoke less? Or does it smoke on acceleration? If it smokes upon start-up then i would lean toward valve guides and seals. If the rings are bad then it would smoke more during accelration. But do a leakdown test as everyone before has stated.
