No BOV sound when reving on neutral?

Quite.

You need load on the engine to build any sort of boost. Merely rev'ing the engine will not net you anything, usually.

I'm assuming that you aren't raising the rpms high enough. The only thing that leads me to believe this is, that your question would have been. Why wont my bov purge?

Try raising the RPMs when you rev in neutral. Honestly though. Why are you wanting to purge the bov in neutral?

What bov are you running?

The only one that I've ever heard in person release at idle was a knock off Type-S with the spring super loose.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks guys! i apologize for my ignorant self. man i love this website, alot of people willing to help.

alot of people willing to help.

This goes away with more complicated issues.

Yes it's all good

If you can manipulate the BOV just free revving the engine, the spring is not properly adjusted (too loose)

Awesome link, check it out
BOV

Hmm, didn't know there was a difference between CBV and BOV, now i do. Thanks for that link.

I would do a boost leak test, it might have been damaged when crushed

Not damaged.....when stock, engine vac would partially open the valve. Now that its crushed the spring tension now holds it closed at idle. So if i rev and create more vac then it slightly opens and whistles. No big deal and kind of funny cause nobody expects the car to whistle. Holds higher boost now and still blows off fine, but thanks for your concern.

Ah I see, it's just the way I read your first post it sounded like the valve never opened or couldn't be manipulated at idle but then when it got the crush mod done to it, it all of a sudden started to whistle
