Well the problem I'm having first occurred with my 14b. I checked it out no boost leaks, no oil leaks, no smoking or anything on the 14b. I then took off the intake tube and had major in and out play. So I took the turbo off and just installed my 18g with FP exhaust mani. Everything was fine on the install. I started the car after priming the turbo, let it idle until operating temperature, and the took it around the block. It hit 10lbs once (slowly I might add) and after that no boost at all. It drives fine, no rev problems, just no boost AGAIN. What I'm think is I have a restricted exhaust. Any other input would be appreciated.

Check to make sure your wastegate is working properly and mbc is hooked up properly if you have one.

I would check for exhaust leaks...
*Turbo to Manifold
*Head to Manifold

If thats not the case, then i would suspect a bad wastegate/settings on boostcontroller

Other than that, i would look at another boost leak test or vacuum leaks

It's a whole set wastegate hybrid from Jusmx and 38mm flapper in a BEP housing. I would certainly hope that it works for a Brand new turbo.

edit: no mdc it's running wastegate pressure

That thing had a 20psi Holset actuator on it; as long as the actuator arm is still attached you should be seeing no less than 15psi or so.

It's possible the clip that holds the actuator arm to the lever flew off, although I normally bend the tabs over to make sure this doesn't happen.

Pull the intake and check for shaft play or a bent shaft; although both of these are highly unlikely if the turbo is getting proper oil supply. This was a turbo that came to my shop with only a turbine seal leak and a little bit of up/down play...it still boosted fine on the car it came from.

No play at all and it's getting oil properly. I took the intake off, spun the compressor wheel and it spun absolutely perfect. Pulled the exhaust off still nothing. I'm going to try somethings today. Like I said it a beauty of a turbo thanks again Jus!

Edit: This is the same problem I encountered with my 14b. It spooled though just made a horrible siren noise. With the downpipe off the 02 housing I don't hear any spool at all.

i agree with the above preturbo exhaust leaks, i would guess your turbo to manifold gasket or head to manifold gasket. Did you do a balance shaft delete or engine rebuild recently? a friend of mine, couldnt get his to boost more than 6psi, because there was metal flakes in the oil from a spun bearing.

No I didn't do any rebuild and the BS was removed prior to me owning the vehicle. Could it possibly be that I have an FP exhaust manifold and BEP turbine housing, but stock turbo to manifold gasket? Even stock o2 housing with the larger opening causing it to have a crap ton of back pressure?
