newer fwd vs. older awd

I have the choice to buy a newer fwd verses an older awd. I'm interested in ALL GO AND NO SHOW! i know awd is better but what about reliability. Its a 1990 vs. a 1996...reliability is definatly a factor.
 
do a compression test on each car, and base a decision based on condition, not year!! In all reality, depending upon how the car was driven, the 90 could possibly be more reliable.

You just can't go by year, I'd get the AWD if it showed good compression across :thumb:
