Hey guys! Here's the deal... I'm 19, I've had my 97 Talon TSI for shortly more than a year. I have always raced it and done impressively well. Guys Love the car and Love to work on it when things go wrong. I however want to work on it myself and learn to better the performance. It's totally stock minus my system, which I have done myself. The only thing I have done is install some aftermarket fogs. It's a 97.... where do I begin... remember these are things I've never done before. HELP!!! OH! I forgot to mention it's only and auto. Owell.

I can tell you a good place to start is to get rid of the stock airbox and replace it with an open element filter (K&N) and to get yourself an Upper Intercooler pipe with a blow off valve (Greddy Type S or 1g BOV) because the stock bov will start leaking boost when you make any extra.

oh and if you really are a girl, prepare for leg humping.

id say go the route i did and youll be seeing 14's.

K&N cone filter off ebay (50$)
3" catback + ApexI Muffler(370$ at local muffler shop)
Greddy Type S BOV(260$ off dsmparts.com)
A-Pillar dual guage pod custom fit(40$ from i dont remember where)
A/F guage. EL glow series (45 off ebay, matches my regular guages)
Boost guage EL Glow type(45 off ebay, matches my other guages)

now some things you can get cheaper, i found a used set of Greddy Upper and Lower IC piping + Greddy Type-S BOV for 300 on ebay, but i saw it after the fact i already had it.

with the filter, catback and bov, it opened up alot of restrictions that limited my stock boost, the boost guage now reads 15 on full throttle, then backs down to about 11-12lbs. and the spool up time is alot faster too now, so thats a +.

so with just alittle money, you can get off to a good start. have fun, it will soon become an addiction.

Wow umm back up a little before she starts taring apart her car and throwing sh*t on that she doesnt know what it does. I would sugesst doing more research on your car on how it performs/makes power/ and learning the parts of an engine. Learn more about your car and then start modding. Dont guess. Imo I think you should always have someone for a second opion on working on a car. You may want to do it all your self, but two heads are better then one.

theres none a better feeling than when ups shows up with 3 or more boxes. its like christmas time all over again. get a couple things done at the same time, and its like a whole new car.
