I am just starting to use my laptop for a logger but it does not have a serial port for the adl to computer. Has anyone had sucess with using a serial to usb adapter cable with sucess. Staples has a connector which is supposed to be xp compatable.
Also I ran the tunerplayer program using NT on one of our work laptops and get an error about java not located. Possibly because the system has not been updated in a long time??

I pcked up one of those usb to serial adaptors and it functions great with my logger setup

I use the Keyspan usb -> serial adapter for link v2. The product number is USA-19hs for the one I use. I tried one from Radio Shack before this one and it would not connect.

So far only the FTDI based adapters like the Keyspan seem to support the non-standard data rate used on 1G's. So either get the Keyspan or roll the dice.
