hi I have a 98 gst which I'm trying to get it to reach to 350 for daily driver. My car has a turbo with no name and I would like to know if any of you guys can tell me if my turbo is a 16g or 14b. Thanks

That appears to be a 16g but it may be cheap ebay one. There Should be a serial number on the compressor cover somewhere. It may be difficult to get 350 out of a 16g bit it is possible.

I kinda figured it was a chinabay turbo. And no it does not have any markings on it just 3 circles with lines n that's it

That compressor wheel does look to be 16g style vs 14b which has all the fins spaced evenly

You can tell it is an ebay 16g by the 3 bolt wastegate regulator.

Besides that, and the j pipe looking like doo doo the turbine wheel looks to be in perfect condition.

Dead giveaway is the lack of cast TDO... On the compressor housing and the round circles with lines are push out points from the die when it was cast. MHI push outs are much more discreet.

The staggered 6 blade like that is what makes it a G series turbo. The B or C would not be staggered, all fins are the same.

Last is the nut on the turbo shaft holding the wheel. Stock MHI nut is hex and usually has some grinding for balance. That has a 12 point which is typical Chinese or sometimes aftermarket.

Yep definitely eBay 16g, not sure how hard or easy it will be to reach 350 with that specific turbo, but I currently have an MHI small 16g and shooting for 350hp..from what i have read it is an attainable goal with supporting mods and a nice tune on link.. hopefully i get there

And I'm just doing some research on methanol kits because I was told that I can't not run meth because it will melt my internals.

Id be suprised if that turbo lets you get there. Running that ebay at 25psi wont last very long even if you do hit your goal.

You dont need methanol for 350

EAsier in what way? Running lines and all that stuff you need for meth isnt any easier then tuning with the right equipment.

Your build do it how you want but seems like a waste for 350hp goal

I have a 16g and 160k on my motor now and hit around 300 at 20psi... just so you know what can be done without meth

My motor is going to be completely stock. Also you are running e85 and I'm going to be running pump gas
But if you say I can reach my goals without it I'll give it a try

Good intercooler, exhaust, turbo, injectors, pump and supporting junk along with proper maintenance and tune will get you there

My motor is stock 7 bolt right now... ill truly push it once i build something. 300hp is a comfortable daily for now. Ill be closer to 400 once built

My motor is mostly stock, with the exception of a Cometic MLS headgasket, ARP Head Studs, and 3G revised lifter. I am currently running pump 93 and hope to get as close to that goal without switching over to e85.
