After changing my radiator, a s**t ton of trans fluid leaked out because me being the genius I am, started the car with the hoses undone. I put a quart of atf fluid and barely get any on the dipstick.

Now my question is, how much will fit in there? I thought a full quart was too much. My bad if this is a silly question, I just dont know. Thanks.

When I got mine I guess it was all separated already cause mine is just the radiator. I always thought that is how it was for a while. But finally figured it out about a year ago.

You may want to modify the tranny lines to bypass the radiator, it does more harm then good if you run your car hard. (It's there to warm the fluid on cold mornings)

Also, you should be using Chrysler compatible ATF fluid, Redline C+ ATF is highly recommended.

The cooler certainly DOES NOT do more harm than good. You are definitely going to have cooler temp's even with the oil/water cooler versus no cooler at all. With no cooler at all the transmission would literally last months versus years.

+1. Don't bypass it. It's called a "tranmission oil cooler" for a reason. It help keep the fluid cooler, as heat is the #1 enemy of auto transmissions.

So you guys are saying the 420a DSMs do not have an air to oil cooler? I may have mistakenly thought that the 420a ALSO has an air to oil cooler (My GSX had both a air to water and air to oil).

If that is the case, get a air to oil cooler... Running the AT at the same temp as the coolant is a bit on the warm side for the tranny fluid, and as soon as you push it you'll creep in to danger zone quickly.
