ok, i have a 92 tsi. I know a lot about my engine but when i bought her, the check engine light was on, the seller ran a diagnositic thing and it read the o2 sensor, and he replaced it with a USED ONE from another 1g he had around. now, i get a check engine light when the car is cold, and when it heats up, it will go away, or wont come on when its heated up. If anyone knows if its tied to the o2 sensor, that would be great. also, what is the average VAC pressure on a stock 4g63T? i have a good amount of performance mods, and im running strong vacuum, but i was just wondering, and what do you guys idle at? thanks

My boost gauge sits around 20 in vacuum. And as for the o2 sensor, I've heard a few people say that there's won't actually be responsive until it starts to get warmer.

yeah..i figured..ill probably go ahead and swap that out for a new one. also, I have this strange ticking noise, but its definatly NOT my lifters. It had'nt started till i replaced my water pump, and after i did that, its been ticking like crazy..i searched a bit, and people were saying it was the hydraulic tensioner for the timing belt, and it could be, becuase mine was a bi*** to go back down to get the timing belt back on after the pump replacement. also, ive owned a few dsm's and they all shook mad crazy if the i was below 1k rpms, and on my new tsi, i got annoyed by it and i just up'd the idle to 1k when in gear, and when im parked it sits about 1.8 to 2k. will that have any effect on my engine, idling so high, or will it just #### my gas mileage up.

Mine idles anywhere between 600 too 2000. Its a dsm it might take you awhile to figure out why it idles bad if it does theres alot of threads on the idle problems so just do alittle looking a searching and youll find alot of stuff to help you out. good luck

That's awesome... Are you able to get away sometime this weekend? There area few DSM's around my area, I could meet you halfway maybe, like in Bolivar?

dude i have no idea where thats at.. haha, i know the kinda surrounding area, i know how to get basically as far as summit racing in tallmadge...plus this weekend, i think i might hit up some maintenance on her..sometime soon though..im lookin for some track buddies this summer

Yea that sounds good. Well, if you can manage to get into canton sometime I can meet you in that area and maybe we'll get a little meet together or soemthing.

You may have already fixed your O2 sensor but I though I would let you know that it is going out if it has a check engine light when cold then goes away. Mine was doing the same thing and eventually the light stays on all the time, then i replaced it and all was good.
