I have a 91 gsx 5-speed with a gt manifold,2.5in turboback,homemade 3in intake with k&n filter,boost gauge and a mbc(still stock boost).my questions are
1. What psi is the stock turbo capable of making safely i have heard many different things and want to clarify it. Will it make 350hp?
2. My ultimate goal is around 350hp should i purchase a 190 0r 255 lph pump also will i need a fuel pressure regulator?
3. At what point do I need a fmic (i have heard as little as 15psi)
4. will a 2g maf and 560's make 350hp?
Thank you for your patience and responses as i am sure these questions have been asked before.

I'm still a n00b, but let me try to help you out. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I don't think that the stock 14b will handle 350hp
From the searching I've done a walbro 190 is good for up to 400hp. If you go w/ a 255 you will need a aftermarket fuel pressure regulator
2g maf or a gm maf would be a good idea. I would suggest maybe 650 or 750cc injectors.
Also you can't go wrong with DSMLink for tuning if you have thought about it.

What is the stock boost pressure on a [DSM]?
Many questions of this type can be answered by the following references:

A search of the Club DSM archives (alternate link here);
Referring to the factory shop manual;
Looking at the factory brochures;
Reading the owners information manual.
1G cars have a stock boost pressure of 8-12 psi. 2G cars have 10-15 psi. The service manual allows lower pressures, but those are rarely seen in actual vehicles.

Your turbo wont make 350 HP. Id say a Big 16G is the most widely used turbo. There are a few members in the 11s with it.

I believe there were some 14b's ported heavily running very high 10's.
Anyway, whatever fuel pump you choose to go with do a re-wire or its damn near pointless. AFPR never hurts, especially if you wanna run anything over stock boost levels. Its all in tuning, but those should get you near the 300 mark at least with the right setup and supporting mods. Better add at least an SAFC to that list as well. But I agree with the above. I nice big 16g would help out for sure.

The efficiency of the 14b compressor wheel really starts to fall off after the 18-19psi mark. This can quickly begin to take its toll when running the stock SMIC. I assume you meant pump gas numbers? Even an E316G with a handful of supporting mods on a solid 22-24psi pump gas tune will be hard pressed to crank out 350whp. The 14b simply wont get you there.

A rewired 190lph will handle 14b/16g wheel variants just fine but it wont give you much room to work with down the road. You are correct about the 255. If you do run a 255 you will need an AFPR of you will suffer from regulator overun which we all hate.

You dont necescarily need a FMIC but if you are aiming for 350whp you are going to have to upgrade to a bigger sidemount at the least or your tuning will become frustrating when trying to aim for those pump numbers.

A 2g MAS will definitley be a component in your quest seeing as the stock (unmodified) 1G unit starts talking crazy at about the 300hp mark.

550s will get you your 350hp also, but this leaves you with little breathing room. This decision will be primarily dependant on your choice of engine management/fuel control which you will also need when upgrading to almost any larger injector.

The common trend these days that everyone seems to be following (and someone will probably try and tell you) is the "If your tuning device can handle it, buy the 348349384cc injectors!!" which I only agree with to a point. Giving yourself a decent fuel buffer zone is a good idea, but I am not about to sacrafice my beloved driveability when trying to running 1200cc injectors on a 14b thats for damn sure.

I always want my car to be a civil as possible whilst doing what I want it to without making any huge sacrifices. The term "streetability" sure can vary alot from person to person.

I know this is an overasked cliche of a question, but, what are your goals with this car? Hp numbers aerent always the best thing to aim for. Explian a little more about your plans. Oh and I know you already know this, but I will say it again, the search feature is your friend. Next time do some archive digging instead of taking the easy way out.

I am running 20psi with water injection on the stock 14b and side mount...2g mas and evo 8 560. No knock at all and getting 26* of timing at redline. I have to fix my scanner to upload the dyno sheet, but i am putting down 326hp and 329tq.

DSMtimes numbers can skew ones perspective to what a turbo is truly capable of. Anyone trapping 126mph on a 14B says alot about the car, the driver, and the tuner. Your average enthusiast on a budget sure isnt capable of this.

Water injection is cheating. :cool: Just kidding. 26* of advance at redline speaks for itself. Those are very nice numbers.

I was thinking about lowering timing and increasing the boost....but i don't want to push it on the stock motor with 160k even though my compression is 155 across the board.

This is my daily driver so it needs to be somewhat civil. Instead of a hp goal a better way of expressing my wants is that i would like the car to be capable of a 13 sec flat quater mile. I realize the skill of the driver is a huge factor but i am talking about what the car can do not the driver.
