I got a 95 GSX no mods but an injen intake. Drives fine on first start up but after it warms up it won't shift into gear. Just revs and goes no where. Don't know if its tranny, clutch, or really old gear oil. I've only had it for about a month and dont drive it too often as i am trying to do all the maintenance first. Any ideas???
 
Replaced the slave and adjust the clutch petal...I've given it for over an hour and clutch engages every time....yea!!! Of cause now when i lay into it at about 4500 RPM's the clutch CEL comes on :-( and Im almost positive flames shot out the muffler when it backfired....so know to find out what caused that!!
 
My car shoots flames out the end of the tailpipe if I shift from 4500+rpm all the time. For me, it's a combination of a lightweight flywheel letting the rpms drop quickly, no cat, and it burning off the last of a large quantity of gas from boost when the throttle plate closes. If you have a cat, that isn't supposed to happen (but it can if you're running too rich), but if not then it's fairly common. Just don't shift from high rpm in front of the cops. Flames shooting out of the back end will likely attract their attention in a not good way...
 
To me,
I actually think that your throwout bearing could have broken off, or exploded. This happened to me when i had my mustang. I could put it into gear, and it would also have a sliught grinding sometimes when i would rev the engine, due to the input shaft making contact with the clutch fork. so check your throwout bearing, but you minus well replace your clutch as well as your pressure plate. They should all be nice, and dont go cheap on the TOB, or it will crack, and explode if the engine revs are high and the bearing cant handle the stress.

Thanks but I am no longer having clutch issues. Replaced the slave and adjusted the clutch pedal :) I know have to figure out why it's running rich and causing it to backfire at about 4500 RPM's
 
What's up great to know there is another dsm lady here in my town. We often he'd to Sonic on Saturday night...so maybe we will g et to meet face to face:D
