Hey guys,
My car is in storage back at home (I'm here at college 2 1/2hrs away) til next spring, and I'm trying to decide what turbo setup to go with once I get it out. My current mods are:

3"turboback exhaust, high-flow cat
Injen intake + K&N filter
ACT 2100
Greddy UICP/LICP
Greddy Type-S BOV
JoeP MBC
Accel 8.5mm wires w/NGK 7Es plugs
free mods

No matter what turbo I get, I'm still going to buy a FMIC and rewire a Walbro 190 lph FP.. after I buy those, I'll have ~$700 left for the turbo upgrade... I've narrowed it down to 3 turbos/setups:

14b - I could get this for cheap, so it'd leave me a lot of money left, which I'd also do extra stuff:
14b - $150
rebuild - $100
inlet porting - $60
o2 housing porting - $75
exh. mani porting - $100
2g install kit - $200
--------------------
total ~$685 (all porting/rebuild done by Slowboy Racing)

-OR-

new 16g - $500
2g install kit - $200
-------------------
total $700

-OR-

FP Big T-28 - ~$750
--------------------
total $750

Out of those three choices, which one would you go with? Sorry for the long read too guys :p Thanks in advance

EVOIII 16G & kit. :thumb: Don't buy a T28, it is only a mild upgrade from a T25. I know first hand because I have one which I will be ditching shortly for a 50 trim. :D

Out of those three choices up there, thanks for the opinion though

whats the difference between a small 16g and a big 16g

big16g will handle more hp.. im talking about the small 16g which still has a lot of potiential.

Not everyone is necessarily looking for 400+ WHP.

I would go with the 16G (out of those choices).

I still suggest going with the evoIII 16g - it costs the same as any other 16g, yet it has much more potential. So why NOT get it? My vote goes to the evoIII 16g :thumb:

Those people should drive Hondas. :p

Dizzm....

Anyway: take aobut 50 bucks and get yourself a good rotary tool. With one of these you can do your own porting and get the 16g and the extra goodies...

It does apparently have a better wheel design and less rotational mass. Other than that they are very very similar so it should be considered.

LOL. I'll tell you what, you find me a turbo that will give me 400WHP while still having fast spoolup, and I'll damn sure buy it!

 :p

Give me one that I can depend on to get me to work everyday, and I'll buy too

i would go with a B16G/EVO16G. Also, two of my friends races last weekend one with b16G and one with e16G (same exact mods they are cousins so they bought everything together but one got b16g used the other got e16g new) and the e16g won by about 1/8th of car length from a 30-100 roll both are 2G AWD keep in mind i was in the car equipped with a b16g and i weight about 175lbs. IMHO opionion both turbo are VERY identical i think if SBR put a b16G on that setup it would make within 1-2 HP as the e16g

Thanks for the opinions guys
I guess I'll probably be goin w/the evoIII.. problem is I don't want to mess with much fuel right now, except for the rewired Walbro 190.. what kind of boost should I run with the evoIII and that kind of fuel? Thanks again

i would not run more than 14psi untill you get a pocketlogger, injectors, and AFC to see what is going on in ur motor

That helped a lot, thanks guy :thumb:
One last Q that I didn't think needed its own thread -- What are the pros/cons of having an external wastegate vs. the internal? It's a $150 difference, and that kinda kills my budget :p

Well, if you don't pay the 150 for the internal, you'll have to pay about 300 for a separate ex wg (plus having to get it mounted). So, you do the math :)

I'd say t28, I love the fast spool time. I have a 50 trim, but I bought the car like that. A 50 trim, I think is better for my car since I want to safely run 20+ PSI but I have supporting mods. If you want to go fast, cheap get a t28. They bolt right up in place of a t25 and don't cause nearly as many problems as a 50 trim would on a close-to-stock car... just my $.02 ;)

i disagree ive ridden in a Bt28 powerd car and i wasnt too impressed.. they do have alot better top end but id go with something bigger, you might as well spend the extra money now and be happy than have to spend more later because you want more.. SBR B16g or the EVOIII...

WHATEVER you do, make sure that while that turbo is off and you are putting another one on, PORT and POLISH the internals of the exhaust manifold and O2 housing...i didnt have this done until 2 months after i put my big T28 on and i was amazed at the increase...i have a T28 and think that the gains are pretty good...if i were to do it again though, i would have gone with a EVO 16G just because my little T28 will soon be maxed out...but if you arent looking to go stupid fast and you want a very good low spoolin turbo then get the T28 :) Good luck with your decision!
