I have a n/t 93 but the motor has been rebuilt. Don't know what it has in it since the rebuild. It has 13,000 miles on it. I wanna boost it I know al the stuff to do this but in my position to be on the safe side I'm not gonna be running avreally high boost level
Ex. I'm starting out with 8 lbs only to be safe.
Q: my friends selling an evo 8 20g Turbo for real cheap should I buy that or get another please help

If you were to turbo your car you would wanna get 1g dsm parts. You can find a stock 13b or 14b turbo off a 1g turbo car. You will also need a exhaust manifold, 02 housing, intercooler, piping, injectors, down pipe. In the long run you might just wanna use your n/t as a daily and try to find a turbo model.

Throw a 14b on it. That 20g wouldnt even be in its happy spot and that motor would scatter where that turbo is happy at. Personally I'm with Canada. Just find a turbo model for cheap and build that. but a 14b on 5-8lbs would be safe

You are going to need all of your supporting modifications before slapping on a turbo.
Fuel pump, injectors, ECU, etc........

You are possibly better off finding a turbo DSM and keeping this one as a DD.

Also, an EVO 8 turbo is flipped, and it will never bolt up.

14B with supporting fuel and tune. Slap a 7cm2 housing on it for slightly better pump gas efficiency and a slight spool penalty but better top end..

You don't want to scatter your poor 420A all over the street.

Or just buy a turbo GST for cheap and play with that and keep your NA stock.

1g non turbo cars have 4g63's, so 420a to scatter.

Ahh. Reading comprehension fail on my part. Good Catch.

Yes.. I do know there are NT 4G63's I have one in the garage for mock-up. Got it for $40 bucks at a gas station.

I had never seen the NT header prior to then...

And in that case I still stand by my 7cm2 14B statement.

OP could just easily buy some cheap NPR Rings/Pistons, ARP Head studs/rod bolts/main bolts, drill and tap into the oil galley to have some oil squirters put in and then go to town on a fuel pump, injectors and Link Lite.

Depending on how much you do yourself and how patient you are to wait on deals/quality used stuff, this can all be accomplished for about $1000-1200.

Well I just pulled a 13b with no shaft play off my 91 TSi AWD. I also have almost every stock side mount pipe, plus the side mount, 1g BOV and a 2g MAF. Basically everything but an ECU, intake pipe and exhaust. I should have the stock injectors even. All just pulled off my running car. I have both a 1g maf and a 2g maf sitting. If your interested hit me up, I dont need any of it anymore.

I've converted a couple N/T 1g's to turbo. Like others said. Stay away from the EVO VIII turbo. Get yourself a good condition 14b. Are you doing the conversion yourself?

Take my personal experience. You will be very happy with a 14b in a turbo conversion. 9 lbs is like hell on wheels compared to the n/t life of a dsm.

Thanks and yeahil I've had the car for a year and ever since I bought it I was like damn not Turbo Java I road in one that was and Eve since I was inlove. But I love my car don't want another one so this is my final decison

The 20g isnt that much more powerful than the wonderful big 16g is... and itll hit 8 lbs at 2700 rpm if not sooner, im sure... ive had a couple, but mark my words, youll be running 15 lbs by the end of the week haha. Everybody always wants to go faster, including myself, so prepare your wallet. but if the 20g is priced right, and you have everything to make her work, go for it! otherwise, i have a brand new evo3 big 16g by MHI for 500$, open dump for 65$... but im sure youll be just fine with the 20g. it supports up to 440 hp. most i ever got was 397hp but i am not complaning as im getting a pte 6262.. happy new year and good luck with your new setup
